I have not heard from you since my return from camp.  My dear, are you hurt with me for flirting with those JRT’s?  I must tell you Marley, it is in every Southern Belle’s nature to flirt – surely you know that, but my heart stayed true to you.  It was merely simple flirting and nothing more.  I am a lady, after all!

Mother and I had a long talk this weekend, and I have decided to withdraw from the race for President.  She is right that my temperament is better suited to planning parties, decorating and shopping for beautiful clothes than for running Rattieland.  And, I am busy with my magazine now.  That is so much fun!

Marley, you are indeed my knight in shining armor and, though Mother says I should remain impartial, I have asked all my voters to give their support to you

     Forgive me for not corresponding with you since your return from camp.  I don't mind your engaging in a little harmless flirting.  Believe me, my dear, when I say that I understand.  My mother and father have been very busy planning a block party/barbeque for the neighborhood.  This party was yestrday and was quite successful.  I did make a brief appearance and found things to be quite charming. 

     My dear Katie, I am sad to hear you are withdrawing from the election, but I do understand the way of things.  I am humbled by your support and endorsement.  If I am so fortunate as to be elected President of Rattieland, I am confident that you shall be the epitome of First Ladies and the fairest hostess in the land.  Everyone will be seeking an invitation to one of your White House parties.

P.S.  My dear, do you have any recommendations for Vice-President, Secretary of State, and other cabinet positions?  A short list needs to be in place so that if I am elected a team will be ready to go to work.

How wonderful to hear from you and thank you for the beautiful flowers.  I know this is a busy time for you, which is why I have not been overly concerned about not hearing from you.    I would be so very honored to be your First Lady, why my head just whirls thinking of it!  

As for suggestions for various positions, well I do not want to appear to be a co-president.  I heard that did not go over well with the human presidential race a few years back -  perhaps I should not be involved in such decisions.  I think it best to  leave such matters in your most capable paws.  I had asked Princess Emma to be my Secretary of Cuteness - I doubt that would be a position in your Cabinet - but should I be First Lady, I would love to have Princess Emma on my staff to assist me in areas of cuteness!  She certainly is cute!

Well, I am working on the special presidential edition of my magazine, so I must close.  

Know that my heart is with you, as we near the end of this most exciting time. Regardless of the outcome, I am forever yours . . .

     I am so glad that you enjoyed the flowers I sent.  I understand your reasoning for not wanting to make suggestions for cabinet positions.  I agree that Princess Emma as Secretary of Cuteness would be most beneficial to your staff as First Lady.  I continue to work on my "short lists" for Vice-President, Secretary of Ear Wars, Secretary of State, and Secretary of Health.  There are so many qualified ratties to choose from that it will be a difficult decision.  I don't mean to be presumptious in discussing these cabinet positions, however I want to be prepared should I be so fortunate as to be elected.

Dear Miss Noodles,

Well, now, fiddle-dee-dee, I have no problem with Miss Nora as Secretary of Ear Wars!  I am a confident woman, very self-assured of my own good looks.  Good heavens, I asked the cutest little girl ever (and royalty to boot, I might add) to be in my cabinet as Secretary of Cuteness!  Only a very insecure Rattie would be worried about such things.  My, my, I hardly know what to say to you Miss Noodles!  Miss Nora and I have a great friendship and I have never thought her strange – she is a budding young lady and I’m sure under my guidance she will grow into a beautiful, gracious Rattie woman.  

Marley, my dear, I do believe Miss Noodles is trying to stir things up between the two of us.  Again, I am confident in our relationship.

Dear Rattie Land,                                                               

I am so SORRY for the recent behavior of Miss Noodles!  I have no idea what is wrong with her or why she is acting the way she is.                                                                                                   She She has been so excited about this election from the beginning, and although I believed she was too young to really participate I did let her keep up with the goings on.                                                                              Once again I apologize to all especially to Mr. Marley and Miss Katie Scarlet.

Please Rattieland do not listen to the rambling of my spoiled rattie girl she has no idea what she is saying. 

I promise I will get to the bottom of this!!!  Right now all I can get out of Noodles is a bunch of crying and alot of I hate her.

Hey Rattieland,

Still having a problem with Little Miss Noodles.  She is being very pouty but has confess that "It's not fair", she says Miss Katie Scarlett has so much, house on a lake, pretty clothes, lots of jewelry, and a boyfriend. She even mentioned her lady like manners and southern accent.

I feel there is more to this, but I can't push her anymore right now, she is exhausted from all her whining and crying. 

I hope ya'll can forgive her and that there is more to it than just a fit of jealously.  I will continue to question her throughout the day and keep ya'll updated.

Dear Miss Cat,

Why fiddle-dee-dee.  Miss Noodles has no reason to be jealous of me!  She is a beautiful Rat Terrier!  (In fact, I think we look a lot alike!) I admit that I am a fortunate little girl, as I was adopted by older parents who are retired and have the time to lavish all sorts of attention on me, but all of us who have loving humans are fortunate, are we not?  And I’m not upset with Miss Noodles one little bit!  I think she was just up to a little mischief – something I’ve been known to do myself from time to time!  After all, girls do have to have some fun!  You tell Miss Noodles that soon she will have that most beautiful necklace and then I will be envious of her!  Hmmm, I’m going to have to think about a jewelry article in one of my upcoming issues and perhaps I could use Miss Noodles modeling that necklace!  Why, yes, I’ll have to think about that – I don’t have time to think of it today, perhaps I can think about it tomorrow.

But Katie Scarlett I was going to waste my....I mean cast my vote for you!  I need a lady in the white house to fight for all of us beautiful ratties who got pimped out to a stud only to be a single mom and get the life sucked out of us and  loose our trim wastelines.  More importantly, I may never have pretty nipples again!  Whoever will I vote for now????  I like that Murphy wants to end things getting stuck up our butt because my human was taking my temperature all of the time before these precious children came into my life.  Hmmmm.  I'm really going to have to think about this.  A vote for you was a no-brainer....now what will I do?

Why my goodness – I do not understand Miss Nora having any thoughts of feeling unwelcome by little ol’ me.  I have always been gracious to the darling little girl.  I have only said that she is still young, which she is.  But that is no criticism of her, merely a statement of fact.  I have offered to take her under my wing, so to speak.  Fiddle-dee-dee, the things one must endure!  I am truly hurt that she would feel this way.  Jealousy does seem to be rearing its ugly head at this late date in the campaign – perhaps it is just stress at the close of a hard campaign.  Marley is his own dog and I trust and would support whatever decisions he makes for his running mate or Cabinet members.   I am most confident in my ability to “hold my Rat Terrier” and have no worries whether his choices are male or female.  Goodness me – I am secure in my Rattie womanhood.

     You are a beautiful and brilliant businessrattie.  Your magazine is outstanding.  I am disappointed only two candidates responded to your call for profiles.  Thank you, my dear, for your dedication to your work.  I am most pleased with the profile you did of me.  I know this coverage will aid the cause of ratties everywhere. 

     I continue to consider my options for filling cabinet positions.  I do not want to appear presumptious, however I do believe in being prepared.  Confidentially, my dear, I am considering Lola, Nora, Trixie, Fredo, Murphy, Amos, and Bob for positions should my campaign be successful.  I know, my dearest, that you desire Princess Emma to be your Secretary of Cuteness.  Have you given any thought to which ratties you will need on your staff?  I know what an important job it will be for you to promote the fine qualities of ratties so that humans will be better able to give us the care and respect we deserve and to encourage the fostering and adoption of those less fortunate ratties who are in need.

Well, I have already said I would be happy to consider Miss Nora for a spot in my magazine – I need photos submitted to my email katiescarlettorattie@gmailcom

 and then I must pick appropriate photos to work with the correct issue.  But, I am collecting photos for future issues all the time.

As far as matters of state – that is out of my paws now.  Perhaps, after the new administration is in order, I can do some sort of article, however Katie Scarlett! The Magazine is really more about fashion, glamour and décor.

Also, I am offering an advice column now – the August spot is taken, but should she or any other Rattie need advice on any matter, Katie Scarlett, PhD – Philosopher of Dogs – will be happy to help in any way.    

Oops, guess we have strayed from political issues.  Sorry.

My Dearest Marley,

Yes, I have been giving some thought to those issues appropriate for a First Lady and I do have some ideas.  Of course, some of the very names you mentioned are names that also came to my mind.  Most superior Rat Terriers, indeed! I also think many of us Ratties have larger siblings (as do I) and so thought a Liaison to Large Breed Relations would be a good idea.  Of course, Lucy or Bo come to mind immediately, as they have the largest big sister I’ve ever seen – Dar!  We have many rescue dogs who could work on rescue issues, but I also am interested in issues of motherhood and with seven puppies, Tinkerbelle certainly has those qualifications.  

Marley, I do hope should another Rattie win this election (dare I even think that!) they will call upon you to serve in their administration.  You have put so much thought into this whole process and taken this election so seriously.  I am honored to be associated with you, my dear.  You make me so very proud.
