Okay, well, ya'll don't know about my daughter's and my carpentry expertise but nothing we've ever built thus far has held up... until now! Look what we did today! Medieval chair... voila!

Hand saw, long string for measuring, a hammer, a pile of nails and a drill to pre-drill the nail holes so the wood didn't split was all we used. I swear we look like Laurel and Hardy or something working on stuff like this but we had a really good time. I was scared to sit in it but Jelly was brave. Here's a picture of her in it before we stained it. Notice that her feet won't reach the floor! LOL (Due to the fact that we don't measure with a tape... we measured the pieces at hip-high and figured that would be good... turns out we are too short for our own construction... oops, live and learn. )

OMG its great.  My mom use to measure like that or she would say to pencils long and three high....I would have to call her back and say hubby wants to know if that was with an eraser or sharpened...lol

It holds! Course we are both too short to let our feet touch the floor but um...lol little late to notice that... It seems stable! Jelly intends to use it as her computer chair. She's got a medieval thing going on.

I'm impressed too... and here's why. This is last year's attempt at building. Took us two days and all 4 kids and myself to put this little fence together. We were so proud of ourselves! About 15 minutes later, the wind blew.

Good job!  The hand tools are harder, but they hone the skills and build character and ingenuety.   Great to see a parent sharing a project. like this.

Best regards,

Michael
