Seems that whenever I decide to do something that's going to be a challenge, it's usually a whopper. This time is no exception... Shiloh and I started a project at the beginning of spring that will likely take several years. I've posted about this before and just wanted to give ya'll an update. For those of you that don't know what cob is, it's clay, sand, straw and water all mixed together to make a substance that when dried, is as strong as adobe, but because it's mud when applied, can be formed into any shape. All of this goes onto a large stone foundation and in time, hopefully will become a little one room art studio that Shiloh and I can enjoy. It will be a little circular building about 10 ft. Well, it turns out that rolling boulders to make the foundation was the easy part, who knew?! It's funny though, as I've worked on this and tried to find helpers, it's come to me that we must be brought up to avoid mud at all costs. I simply can't find anyone willing to come play in the mud with me. All except my faithful companion Shiloh that is... Thank goodness for my boon companion...   Anyway, even though it still looks alot like a big dirt hole, I've included a couple of pictures to show you what's taking up alot of Shiloh's and my time these days. As the walls are built, they go up all at once, unlike conventional modern building methods where each wall is constructed separately. Yesterday I made it full circle! I know it doesnt look like much but to me it's huge. I can actually look at it now and see that it's becoming something. (Only like another 5 ft to go before I can start wondering if the roof is going to be harder than the walls...)

2.&3. So you can see the size and shape of this little thing that doesn't look like much that has managed to take most of the summer! lol

I was wondering about this the other day. I can see the progress! Good thing you have Shiloh to help!

Looking at the pictures, it just looks like a big mud mess. Hard to imagine that there's close to 8 ton of boulders down in that hole and I moved them all. Oh well, one day it will look like something... I'll post more then. Oh well, in the process I've lost 20 lbs, gained alot of muscle and got a killer tan. lol
