We all have a story about where we got our fur babies. I got Winchester from a guy who delivered wooden privacy fence to my house. He gave him to me, after the lady who was supposed to come down from Kentucky, could not come because of the weather. I got Brielle from a breeder in Lake City, Florida. I am getting Remington from Sara, in Austin in a couple of weeks, when I fly to Texas.

haha! How observant..it was a party theme here @ school! i've been to new orleans..once on vacation and once on hurricane katrina rescue but never during mardi gras! but thank you very much for the compliment. We got them from Cleveland TN. The man who rescued them and thier mother raised them from two weeks. Basically the owner of the mother never felt the need to get herr spayed? so when the beagle ended up with puppies who wouldn't be pure bred she dropped them off at a random shelter with a note. The shelter then contacted the guy who is known for rescuing litters and finding them homes placed ads all over the internet. I've been looking for a puppy for a long time now because i recently lost my mother..who was my best friend in September from pancreatic cancer. There was a huge void in my home and personal life- so my roomie reccomended a puppy. Since i am on a college student budget my boyfriend was going to purchase a pup for me and i had my eye on a $300 chihuaha, lucky for me the lady sold the pup rite before i could go get it and all i was left with was hurt feelings and a number for a guy named Larry. i had no idea what kind of pups they were. I'd seen pictures of some of the pups he'd rescued but he recuse so many you cna never tell which ones are there at which times. He gets calls fromt he shelters and he rescues them and then once tehy are gone he gets more. His back yard was full of dog houses at first sight we thought he was a breeder but he just loves dogs and he has a soft heart. We fell in love with the pups when we first saw them and we fell in love with Larry after hearing his story. He only asked for $60 for both pups as long as we promise to get tehm neutered we can have that 60 back for other expenses. He's a great guy who keeps an open phone line for my questions before i found this site! HE already had them potty trained and lovable when we got them. long story i know but it's ours. My DeBo has really been what i needed in my life and the spark of life that was missing in my home- my brothers and sisters and even my dad love DeBo and he can;t get enough attention so it;s been great.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother, and I'm so glad that the puppies are able to help you cope with your loss, at least in their own way

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm also sorry about your Mom, it's awful that she was taken from you so early.

You and your friend look wonderful and how cool that y'all have been friends since the 1st grade - that is a long relationship

I just love both of your pups. They are too sweet, and Larry sounds like a wonderful guy.
Rat terriers actually have beagle in their "family tree" and many of our "pure" ratties have the freckles too -
it's called ticking and comes from the beagle in their bloodline

Bern, You and Monique are so pretty!!! Welcome !!

I still have my best friend from grade school too.... her name is Bonnie and we met in 8th grade in 1969.. We have been 'sisters' for 37 years...
She now lives in Florida, not far from our Donna/Winnihoohoo... I live in Indiana....
Needless to say I miss her alot but we talk on the weekends .....
cool thing is the next time I visit Bonnie I can also visit Donna!

As you and Monique go thru the years together, each year becomes more precious than the year before.... Hang onto this girl..

The loss of my Mother is still kinda fresh and raw also... she will be gone 2 years this June..
Just remember she has not left you... only in the physical body... She will walk every step of your life with you..
Blessings....Jan
