Jan's talk of inclines and Mari's post about going back in time did it So I just want to say how much I love my hometown area. I love our little village, but I'm talking about our "major city" - Pittsburgh, PA. Even though I live in Eastern Ohio we are only about 35 minutes away from one of the most fantastic cities in America.

I think anyone who ever has the chance MUST visit Pittsburgh - it's really an experience, a good one!

Of all the beautiful places in this country, guess who has the #2 most beautiful view in all of the U.S.? Yep - Pittsburgh, looking down from Mt. Washington Hill (after having road the Duquesne Incline, of course). It is truly a sight to behold. Just riding the incline itself is a wonderful experience (the two cars are original from 1877!!!) If you ever visit - be sure to ride them and make a reservation at the Georgetown Inn for when you get to the top. Best food to go along with the best view

Evening View of Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle

This view shoes the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers forming the mighty Ohio

The other thing I most highly recommend is to enter the city from the West coming in the Fort Pitt tunnels. It's hard to describe, but you're traveling along the highway through relatively hilly, wooded areas and you enter this long tunnel. At the end, you burst out and Bam! you run smack into the view above - it's like entering the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz - just unbelievable.

Thanks, ya'll, for letting me ramble on (if you stuck through long enough to read this part ) I'm so proud of where I'm from and the people here in our tri-state area.

It's nothing compared to in-person. Doesn't matter how many times I go through those tunnels or stand on top of that hill - it's breathtaking. Doesn't matter the season or the weather, it's gorgeous all the time.
