This has been kind of a hard summer for Mommy... It's hard to watch your kids grow up enough to leave home. Tiffany earned a full summer scholarship at the San Fransisco Art Institute and is in her final week. The final tests are over, all final projects are in and she's really anticipating coming home. It's been a wonderful growing experience for her, but having her gone has changed the whole 'flavor' of our family. She has been severely missed! The money for this was extremely costly even with the scholarship! We'll get through that part though.
She called this morning to tell us what she misses most. Home cooked meals, hugs from her momma, kisses from Shiloh and she misses her guinea pig Pete. (I took really good care of him though, he's quite possibly the most spoiled rodent I've ever heard tell of... )
It's got to be hard going from a household of 9 family members, 2 cats, Shiloh, a guinea pig and passels of fish to a tiny one bedroom dorm room where you don't know anyone. She made lots of friends, some I'm sure she will keep in contact with long after the summer is over. Daddy asked her what she wants for her dinner Sunday when we have all rested from the seriously long road trip... Daddy's barbecued chicken, Momma's tater salad and Jelly's chicken salad. Sounds like fantastic choices!
I can't wait to see her!
Here are three pics of Miss Tiff,
1.Paint Ball Shop (She volunteered to be the target for their opening promotion, much to my dismay!)
2.Tiffy and her best buddy Liz being silly
3.Self portrait
Hey, also, without any prompting from Mommy, rumor has it that she's dyed her hair back to a normal brown. WOOHOO no more blue! LOL |

| Yeah, my Tiff isn't exactly what you'd call a girly type girl. Paintball, lettered in wrestling, into photography and acting. She's definitely coming into her own. It will be great just to watch her interact with her siblings. That's going to be one stuffed to the brim van on our way home but none of us want to miss it! I'm off to go do something obnoxious to the exterior of the house. It's time for welcome home decorations! |

I'm glad to hear that she had fun and made some friends! I bet she is going to be sooo happy to eat that home cooked meal! After not eating a good meal like that for awhile, it is like heaven! And I think Tiff will look great with the new hair color! She's so pretty in that last picture! Not that the others aren't great, but she just stands out in that last one |

| I think so too Kim, they all go through phases and I let them do what they will with their hair, just no body piercings and no tatoos as long as they are under my roof, but I'm not gonna miss the rainbow hair phase! |

Hi Maureen, Those pictures are all from over the last year or so, just wanted to put a picture (face) with the name for you. I haven't seen her in 6 weeks! I promise lots of pictures when we go to get her and also on Sunday when we all come together to welcome her home. We do intend to have a blast on Sunday! Saturday will be picking her up, going to her art exhibit and then moving her out of the dorm room afterward. But I got out there yesterday to decorate for her homecoming and went a tad bonkers... There are welcome home signs everywhere. I made picket-type signs, cloth banners... When I'd finished it looked more like remnants of a 60's or 70's peace march than a welcome home, which brought me to the idea of a themed welcome home party. I added more signs, happy faces, peace signs, flowers etc. We will all be adorned in hippy attire to welcome her home on Sunday. (Lord knows I have plenty of music and clothes too from that era!) So shhhh, nobody tell her, ok? It's a surprise! |

I am so happy for you that Tiffy is coming home and so excited for her that she had this experience. The hippy welcome home is way cool and groovy man! Will Shiloh wear a wreath of daisys in her... well not hair, but head fur maybe? If I knew what box some of my stuff was in, I'd unpack a few fun things from the 60's 70's and wear them in honor of her homecoming party on Sunday. Well I'll be wearing them in spirit! And man the menu sounds too good. You had me almost drooling. You will have to send me your tater salad recipe. I still think my mom made the best tater salad. Even now since she can't see and cut up things, I will get all the ingredients and have her mix the proportions. YUMMY Drat, now I may have to find time to hit the grocery store for the fixins! LOL! Have a very safe trip and a great time with your daughter!!! |

Thanks Jan, Ill tell her you said so. I find it funny. She's my goth kid, generally dressed all in black but since babyhood she has always LOVED vibrant colors. I sure will be glad to see this non-color phase-phase out. I think she has a good use of color too. The theme for these murals was movies of certain eras. I have a few of her photographs that I've seen so far. At bedtime, she handed me a kitchen sized garbage bag full of developed pictures lol... haven't had a chance to look at those yet but when I do, I'll scan some. |

Well, best laid plans and all that... Everyone showed up ready for a barbecue but the stupid weather drove everyone away just as soon as they ate. We had wind gusts that blew everyone sideways. Oh well, the food was good. Tiff was surprised and rather satisfied with the menu, so not a total loss. Sigh, now to do the clean up. *Mental note, it takes far more preparation and clean up afterward than actual party time, especially when you do all the work by yourself...
Oh well, I've got my Tiffy home!
Camera didn't behave well either, but here are a few pictures. My favorites are of hubby trying to eat in the wind... smiles |
