We took these over a year ago at the old cemetary in St. Marys...circa 1788.  Was just wondering if you or anyone else looking at these saw/felt anything about the pictures.  It seems to be a very peaceful cemetary to me vs. some I've been in.

Two of the pictures (the ones with sarcophagus above ground and inscription readable) are of yellow fever victims from the 1700's.  They tell the story of how victims fell ill, were cared for by family members, died and then the family member would get it and die.  Very sad.

And yes, that's Glenna posing in one of the pics - we call those ornate gravestones from the Victorian age the "bathtub graves".

I'll have to add these in 2 sets so bear with me!

More......BTW St. Marys was originally an area lived in by pirates as it is so hard to get to from the sea...very dangerous sand bars.  After the pirates came the Spanish, French and English.

I love old cemetaries. The one in New Orleans is so amazing. They have to bury everyone above ground and they stack them.

Those are really good! Honestly, that looks like a very peaceful place. In the daytime. Now, after dark, who knows?
