As I've said before, I live in a boarding house with ... hang on, gotta count every time ... six people, six cats, and six dogs (you wouldn't think I would have to count, come to think of it, since it's equal now). With so many people coming and going, there are bound to be mistakes made at the door. I used to have a dog, Jasper, who was let loose by someone at the door and I haven't found him.
One of my roommates had a 13-year-old relative visiting this week. He was playing in the dog pen and LEFT THE GATE OPEN! I am SO GRATEFUL that Lola wasn't out at the time!!! Seriously, I hardly ever let her out of my sight, because I don't want to risk something like this happening to her. I'm really looking forward to the day when Daniel and I can afford our own place. Honestly, you'd think, being a teacher, that I could afford more than just a room! I do love it here, but I just can't stand always worrying about my pets!
The dog who got loose has not come back yet, and that's not good news. He's an elderly treeing walker coonhound, a rescue dog with a lot of quirks and odd habits. Although he has tags, I don't know that he would let anyone near him to read them. I've lived her a year and he rarely lets me lay a hand on him.
I really hope Duncan turns up. He's such a good guy. Every day, all day, he patrols the property. Around and around and around, inside and out. You can be sure that if you sit for an hour in the living room, watching TV, Duncan will pass you at least four or five times, walking purposely, on patrol. Rest easy because Officer Duncan is on the job.
I hope he patrols his way back home soon.
