Well that was big fun! Johnny turned 13 yesterday and we had a renaissance faire themed party in his honor. His heart's desire was a real bow and arrows and he got his wish. Aaron made him a target stuffed with grass, nice and thick so as long as his aim is good, we should be okay. Angelica made him leather arm bracers and I made him a leather quiver for his arrows. I overheard him on the phone with his grandfather saying that it was more than he had ever hoped for. He said he liked his hand made presents the best. Boy, this kid sure knows what to say to make his momma feel really good! LOL

It was super fun though. (I think I rather like eating and playing outside like a bunch of nuts!)

On with the pictures! As you can see, a good many of us were in costume. Johnny's smile continued like this throughout the night. We had mock jousting tournaments (slay your opponent with a pool noodle), mock sword fights (Johnny spent two weeks whittling before hand making sure everyone had a wooden sword)
a boxing match, lots of gaelic music, roasted turkey, barbecued chicken, tater salad and beans, fresh baked bread and tarts, mulled apple cider, punch and of course, birthday cake.

I'm sure of the party's success because we managed to wear all of the kids out! Now that's hard to do!

We are all through with the birthday rush and all that's left is the clean up. The weather has turned beautiful and everyone seems well satisfied. Now then, I'm quite ready for the 'lazy days of summer'!

Johnny just asked to see what I posted and all of these kind replys were awaiting him. We both thank you all so much for your kind comments and good birthday wishes. He asks that I tell you that he had one special friend stay the night and he's still entertaining but will be on here soon. He misses you all. We do have a blast doing this sort of stuff together. Thanks so much for being so very kind, to myself, Miss shiloh, my kids... you all are just the greatest!

It's so nice to see and hear about such a close knit family, like y'all have. If more parents would do stuff with their kids, the world would be a better place. Before you know it, Johnny will be 23! My boys have grown up so fast and I miss them being younger.

That's cause mom didn't know what size bow and arrows Superjohn needed. Sorry about that buddy! We'll exchange it for a bigger version with a heavier pull! Glad you had fun son, you deserve it!
