I just saw a baby groundhog in the yard!  It's not a tiny baby, but it is much smaller than the one I posted a picture of before.  He was SO cute!  He was right outside of the front door eating grass and then he crawled up onto our fish pond to get a drink of water.

We may have a whole groundhog family around here, haha.  Just had to share these pictures!  Once again...they are a little blurry because they were taken through our windows...I didn't want to open the door and scare him off.

I love all the wildlife around this house!

He is awfully cute but LOOK out. They are such pests. We have alot of groundhogs here and they dig up our gardens. Flowers and veggies. We have a chipmunk family but I can never get pictures because 1. they are so fast and 2. they blend into the ground!

I know....I dare not try to have a garden or vegetables...between the deer, rabbits, and groundhogs the food would NEVER last.  I haven't had any problems so far with them messing up the yard or flowers though, but I'm keeping an eye out.  We've only been here a couple of weeks.

Morgan -- you have as many critters in your yard as we do out here in the country! LOL
Groundhogs can be vicious, and when I was young, I witnessed a groundhog injure a dog pretty badly. Please don't let Bella tackle one!

He's so adorable! Groundhogs are just so cute. (I wouldn't let one of my dogs near them though)

We had a groundhog wander into our yard once. Never expected there to be one of these in our  backyard as we are somewhat in the city. Let Fred and Alice out (did not know there was a groundhog at this point). I hear commotion, they have it under the truck, and they are circling. I swear it looked like Fred and Alice were plotting what to do. Fred goes under the truck after it, groundhog comes out on Alices side and all I see is black and white fur flying, I run out grab the dogs and the groundhog hobble off the way he came. Oh they were so proud of themselves, but ticked at me for not letting them finish the job. I was shaking a couple hours after.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

SOOOO cute! My guys are such hunters that a place like yours would mean constant "gifts" for me to clean up. Here's hoping Bella remains more of an observer than a hunting participant!

My dalmatians used to bring me ground hogs. It was gruesome and they are very heavy rodents when full grown.

I don't know if we have groundhogs down here in Texas, but we are overrun with squirrels. I guess we shouldn't have planted 3 pecan trees in our yard. We also have a bunch of rabbits that roam around our neighborhood. My sister has found possums in her backyard several times.

Oh, that's not good.  They seem pretty skittish and always run as soon as they hear a door open or someone walking up...they run into the brush and woods around our house.

I do always look outside to make sure that I don't see any creatures before I let Bella out though.  I'm not sure how much of a hunter she is since she has been an apartment dog for so long but I know if I let her run everything off all of the time we would never see them again and I like being able to watch them...especially the bunnies and deer which we have lots of!
