I cannot get through to them. The recording says due to network difficulties, your call cannot go through! I hope they are ok! Maybe all the lines are taken up with emergency personel. We need to pray for them too, to be safe! He is up that way too.

I had a text msg from them probably about 2 hours ago that they had no power and the rain was still pouring down.. but they were ok at that point. He is trying to conserve his battery and his minutes on his cell phone just in case the power doesn't come back on anytime soon. I will let you all know IF I hear from them again. Just keep the prayers going!!

Ok... the Grays are fine. they still have no power but the rain has stopped and the sun is shining. His concern now is it getting so hot and having no a/c. the power could be out until at least midnite he says. Their house is built on a little knoll and has a drainage ditch so there was no damage to their home, thank the Lord!!

So glad to hear that they are ok. Power outs are sooooo frustrating! I have car charger for every cell phone that we have, for just such as that!

Don't feel bad, I didn't realize until I got up here this afternoon, that any of this was happening either. I've been living on the ballfield for the last two weeks.

Oh my! What a thoughtful bunch you guys are!    The storms were bad Friday night, and the rain was more than I could imagine....9.7 inches of rain in less than 10 hours' time.  Dams were being compromised that holds the river waters back, and drain ditches were filling up so fast that everything just sort of filled to the top with water.  Power went off at my house at 3:30am, and just came back on about an hour ago.  It sounded like a war zone here with choppers going overhead and sirens everywhere.  The entire town was without power, so no grocery stores, drug stores or gas stations were in operation.  The National Guard and the Marines were here along with the Indiana State Police and rescue units from every fire department in the county, and literally hundreds of people were forced to leave their homes and apartments and get into boats to be taken to the high school gym and a couple of the larger churches around here as temporary evac shelters.  We were lucky--the water totally flooded the ball diamonds right next door to me and the water was chest-deep---people were actually swimming in the ball diamonds.  My yard has a low drain area on the side next to the ball diamond, and the house itself sits on a small rise, so no water came anywhere near my house---but my street was so flooded that I couldnt get out of the driveway.  OK---couldnt go anywhere or even buy gas even if I could get out.  God watched over us, and even the people that had it much rougher than we did still are safe and sound.

Took a few pictures while I was being bored out of my skull today with no tv and no computer. hee hee

1. Army Helicopter (I never saw so many choppers in my life--tv crews, Army, Nat'l Guard, State Police, Lifeline....all highways in and out of town were closed due to high water or mud slides, so air was the only travel in or out.

2.A truck tried to avoid high water in the street, and jumped the curb right in front of my house.  They were stuck there for some time until a wrecker came to pull them backwards off the curb. (why do idiots always try to drive through or around high water in a flood????)

3. This guy just went through one of the more shallow parts of the flooded street in front of my house.

4. The neighborhood kids enjoyed the water lots more than I did.

5.  Well, SOME didnt enjoy it as much

6. These people are swimming in the parking lot at the ball diamond next door to me.  The red/white/blue bldg is a dugout and it had water up over the bench seats.
