Hi all,

I just found your site, and would like to ask if anyone here thinks that my little pup is a rat terrier. We picked him up from the shelter here a little more than a month ago, but they had no idea what his breed was. I have spend lots of time looking at pictures online, and I finally think that he looks as though he may be a rat terrier.

Sorry for the bad quality pictures, they were taken on my cell phone.

He is right about 20lbs now, and his ears always stand right up, I dont think they have flopped over for a few weeks. He is right around 12-13 weeks old now.

So, what do you think? Rat Terrier? Mix?

Thanks

Luke

Ack, very cute! He sounds big. Maybe he's a mix?

What a cutie pie! So glad you rescued him. Looks like a mix to me, too. If he's 20 lbs. already & still growing, the other part of the mix may be a fairly large breed.

Well isn't he a cute little bugger? I agree with the others that he's fairly large already to be a rattie, but there may be some in there. It's just hard to tell with dogs of unknown parentage. Whatever he is, he is certainly adorable and bless you for adopting him from a shelter!!! I love the last pic

Please stick around, there is a lot of good new puppy owner advice here regardless of the breed of dog

Aw, what a cutie! I think he's a mix, not a full rattie. Maybe a rattie mixed with a german shepherd or husky? And he is a big boy! My rat terrier, Sam, is full grown and between 30 to 40 lbs, and he is a "decker", or the largest size of ratties.
Please stay weather he turns out to be a rattie or not!

He is a beautiful dog. He is big. My Amos is a rattie Mix and he's now 47lbs at almost 14 months. He probably has some shepherd in him.
