Randy and I went out for an early supper tonight.  Upon our return, I went down to adjust the dock and I heard this huge flapping of wings and an odd bird call -- definitely not a Great Blue Heron.  I looked across the cove we are on and saw some huge bird in a tree and some small tan animal below.  Couldn't make out the animal, but thought the bird was a turkey.  Came up and got the binoculars and camera and yes, it was a very large male wild turkey.  Below are some photos.

While at it, I took a nice spring shot of the lake with a redbud blooming and a photo of the bank swallows that nest in an opening under our dock every year.

So, I guess you could say I had a "Wild Turkey" Saturday evening!

Great shots. I wonder if dogwood or rhododendrons will be in bloom in Sweetwater this time of year. Love those. They don't do well this far south, as a rule, and I just love them both. We'll know in five days won't we?

Dogwoods should be blooming - rhododendrums probably won't be yet.

That is a BIG tom. I love turkeys. I used to go turkey hunting every year but I haven't hunted in a while. I just loved going out early in the morning and listening to the woods wake up. I didn't care if I got a deer or a turkey it was worth it just to listen to all the wildlife wake up.
