Our 2 duck "kids" have been here for over a week now (off and on) and I'm sure hubby feeding them bread doesn't have anything to do with it!

We have ponds in both the back and front yards. Holly is so good about not chasing them when they are in the back pond... but Lucy is such a naughty girl... and chases them off!  When they are in the front yard pond there is a big gray cat that lives somewhere on the street, and now he watches for them so HE can chase them off too! I hadn't seen the ducks earlier on Sunday. Later in the afternoon I was out cleaning the windows in my car, and when I finished the last window I shut the back door and turned around... and there were the ducks standing on the rocks around the pond, about 3 feet away, and just looking at me (totally calm) like they were saying...  "Hey lady... here we are... now where is our bread!"

I had to go in and get them some bread... just can't say no to feathered cuties!

Here they are having a relaxing swim after STUFFING themselves with bread! I'm afraid I'm going to get attached to them... and suddenly they will be gone!

I LOVE that photo! You might be surprised. If there is good water and good food, these "wild" ducks may decide to make your place their home. If she had a good protected nesting site, you may get to see a "feathered family" this year. Keep us posted!

Karen you will see these two year after year if they make it back after winters break.......they will make a nest not to far from their water and swimming area...I bet you will get the babies swimming in your litlle set up...They aren't as messy as geese and geese have a way of bringing in more and more friends.

May your shadow include your four legged friend.
