This is from the "small" part.  I witnessed a moth emerging from it's cocoon on Monday.  The catepillars craw around and find a place to make their cocoon, the must survice the ant attacks and finally wiggle their way out of the cocoon, only to live about a week.  These are quite attractive with blue bodies, light blue-gray wings and an orange head with black eyes.

My crappy little cell phone camera hardly does anything any justice.

Those are great pix. Maybe you can help me identify this bug, I haven't been able to yet.

I hate insects!  That one big one looks like it could be a large locust or cicada....geez we have huge mutant bugs here in the swamp and I scream like a girl when  they get near me!

Aw Mary Beth, it is just a little moth about a half inch long.  Maybe I'm just weird, but things like this fascinate me.  The adult moth of this species is very attractive.  I've spent hours researching theae little critters, but have yet to identify it.  The first pic was just as it was emerging from it's cocoon.  At first I thought a wasp or spider was attacking it until I realized it was just itself pulling free of it's last home to take wing and freely roam the skies, until a bird or windsheild gets in it's way.

Yeah, we got some big ones here too, it's those roaches the size of a buick the "bug" me, you can hear them shuffling around in the dark sometimes, now there's a real Eeeich!  And NO, we don't share our home with them, just a bunch of little pea sized moths that come in at night when we've got the door open (so Ratty can go and come as he pleases)  which we don't do now 'cause Little Missy Cameo will go and we can't have her not coming back-it is 100% supervison for her right now.

It's OK to scream like a girl if you're a female, isn't it?  It's the guys screaming like girls that get me

Here's a great site for trying to figure out what a bug is..... http://www.whatsthatbug.com/

I have used it once or twice to figure out what kind of bug something was. It's actually interesting to look around too.....

These are cute little critters. Not bad bugs at all. All they want to do is survive the ant attacks and fly away. Like Phil though I don't like the palmetto bugs, huge ugly buggers. But not as bad as the spiders in Panama City. The little weevils are fun to watch, but we haven't seen many of those this year. But I've only seen one bug in the house and he is now dead cause I squashed him. I think if there are any the ratties will have them out of here in no time.

Hey-that's kindof cool! Anything in nature, especially critters fascinate me. Good pics.

Bugs don't bother me either, as long as they stay outside! LOL And, don't dare let an ant show up in my kitchen, then I do have a hissy-fit. Where there is one ant, thousands follow. Any other bugs that make their way inside, Buddy is usually right on it!
