We really did have a good time - I wish there were more people from the site here in the Tidewater Area. :-( No one quite understands the Rat Terrier breed unless they own one. |

| Used to live up there my senior year in high school (over in Hampton). Dad was stationed at Langley then. We drove over to Norfolk Naval Station a few times. Lovely old naval base as I recall. We loved the Tidewater area and driving up to Williamsburg and Yorktown on weekends( it was free back then!). |

Peggy, I actually grew up in Hampton - went to Bethel High School, not sure if you're familar with the high schools in the area. That's so neat that you lived there for a short time! |

| Glad the two of you got to meet. You both seem like such great (and nice!) people! Wouldn't it be super if we all lived close enough to meet each other for real?? |

I went to Hampton High my senior year only. Daddy was transferred from teaching at Ft. Leavenworth Command & Staff School to Langley AFB TAC Hdqtrs. It was truly hard to have to move to a new school my senior year! Made a lot of friends in Kansas! Having moved every two years of my life, THAT was the only extremely difficult one for me. And I never really felt a part of that school or community. I don't recall a Bethel High, but maybe it wasn't there in 1966. Thought there was just Hampton High and one Catholic school (don't remember it being named Bethel) God, 1966, that was a long time ago! Waaaay before you were born, I'm sure. Telling my age again. |

I lived in Hampton for 6 whole months while I was closing out my military civil contract and getting ready to move to Missouri!!. I had fun, but didn't like some of the traffic I had to deal with heading off to Ft. Monroe.
It is so neat to see meet up photos, I'm still upset I didnt get to the NC one, but like Nora I sure wish we all lived close enough to meet for real.
If I ever were to win the lottery or somehow get tons of money, I'd charter planes for everyone to fly to some great spot and have a rip roaring Rattie good time.
I know what you mean about folks not "getting" rat terriers. you gotta live with one to really and truly appreciate them.

Okay, so it was just my Rat Terriers but Karen (JRT_Rattie_Mom) came for a visit while she's in Virginia Beach visiting her OH SO CUTE grandchildren and their parents. Karen definitely has a DIFFERENT accent...sorry Karen! It was SO nice to meet her in person as well as her daughter and grandchildren. Here are some pictures I took today. Mine didn't turn out that well but I'm sure Karen will have some great photos to share once she gets back home. I'm also including one I took of Brock and daddy while they were here.
Me... an accent??? I thought that was you! It was SO much fun getting to meet you, Andy, Brock...and Batman & Blondie! Brock is so adorable in his pictures... but I LOVED getting to meet him in person.. AND hold him! I was so disappointed that I didn't get a picture of me holding Brock.. I was thinking I did! Still sorting through my 300+ pictures I took, but going to post a few that I took when we visited!
