Finally, we are nearing the end of the lake lift project. Today is the day the cart frame goes on and is hooked up to the cable. Sides will be added after the frame is installed.
Haven't posted any pictures in a while, so thought I'd bring y'all up to date on our "little" project.
1. The cart - it is on it's side in this picture(sides will be added after installation)
2.. The motor which will wind and unwind the cable
3. The track

4. Cart "home" from below
5. Deep in thought - one of our guys figuring stuff out!
6. More deep thought -- this is the nice man who took Boo Boo Bunny -- he's great!
Oh, and P.S. the red and yellow metal is scaffolding - it will be gone when project is finished!
Wish us luck today! |

| Wow, Jan! That looks like an amusement park ride. I'm sure Randy will be glad when it is finished, especially since you don't want to go to the marina any more. |

Oh yeah, Pam, it will be so great for Randy. He has such a hard time with all those steps. And, it's not just that we don't want to go to the marina -- we have been banned! Gee, I've never been banned from anywhere before!
It will make the lake so much more accessible for Randy and I think I'll like it too! Won't be ready for riding in today, but we are getting there!

Wow....it looks so steep !!! I've ridden the Incline in Pittsburgh which is the same principal only larger and I get so nervous every time...but the view is worth it. P.S.: Everyone should be banned/thrown out of somewhere once in their life |

hee hee, I agree! Makes me feel like a wild woman!
Oh, and Tracey, I showed the picture you posted of the Pittsburgh Incline and we got the idea from that to paint this cart in caboose colors with L.L.R.R. on it (for Lullwater Landing Railroad). This has three sets of brakes, the regular brakes programmed in, a back up break that kicks in if it senses any looseness in the cable and then an emergency manual brake. It has been designed to be very safe! And it won't be nearly as long a ride as the Pittsburgh Incline RR. So, come on and take a ride! |

Jan- The projects almost done? This is quite an awesome picture. The height alone, yikkes. Can't wait to see the finished project and you and Randy taking the first flight...oops, I mean ride. LOL! As far as being banned, it's their loss. You are a wild woman! Could we have a contest to name this lake lift? You're going to paint it caboose red. I'm sure we could all come up with something.... |

Well, sure. We call our place Lullwater Landing (just for fun) and have dubbed the lift Lullwater Landing Railroad because of Randy's RR work - he plans on putting a RR Xing sign at the bottom of it. But, we could sure all come up with an alternative name for it, if y'all want to!

Well, it sort of looks like one, doesn't it. It is a lift to carry us up and down to our lake. We have anywhere from 130 to 160 steps, depending on the lake level. So, this is a motorized cart that runs on a track and will carry us up and down.
Some of the guys rode in it yesterday, including Randy. It doesn't have the back-up breaks yet, so it isn't ready for real use, but they couldn't resist riding ( there is a cable that lets it up and down, so that controlled it). Still some gliches to work out, but we are close! |

| WOW, pretty awesome. Lake Buchanan goes up and down, and a lot of people on the creeks and inlets have lifts sorta similar to yours, but they use them to pull their boats out of the water. Almost like a big boat trailer, where you put your boat on the rails, and turn on the pulley, and it pulls the boat up the incline to the "garage" and I've seem some where the incline rvials yours! Can't wait to see completed pics!!! |
