My boys...
1) Buddy - June 1997 - January 6, 2008
2) Nak (Buddy's dad) - 1997 - January 11, 2007
I was going to post a pic of Buddy's half brother (and full dobie) but I don't have one of Fritz on this computer. I lost all three of them within 1 1/2 years. They were such sweet, loving dogs. I miss them all so much.

Thank you for creating this thread. |

The pics are wonderful. Unfortunately I have none of my pets that are gone. Coco(possibly rattie or Rat-chi)-killed in '84 when someone broke into my house. Grungy(Chow mix)-laid to rest Oct. '98 Hairy(Chinchilla) 2 weeks old, mother wouldn't feed him so he was given to me with little hope of even overnight survival. I had him 2 weeks before he left me. Ratty used to sleep with him and keep him warm. Jo-Jo, Serenity Lynn, TIK and TAK, my beloved siamese cats. Tinkerbell, my persian and Tigger, my tabby. Lassie, my collie as a child. My owl and my deer Bambi. |

You've all heard me mention my dachshunds many times. Pepper, was truly my dog. She had epilepsy. Though meds kept her siezures in check most of the time, it was a siezure took her at age 7 in 1999. Longest (and lowest) of all my many miniature dachshunds. I still think of her often. Button and Zipper would have liked her, I think.

This is Pitiful.
She came to me as a 1 1/2 lb puppy that was left in a box in front of the nursing home where my mother was a resident. She was the most Pitiful thing that I ever saw. She came to me at a time when I really needed someone to love. It was 1998. She was killed in my driveway by my son's dog in 2002. The other dog love to play with her and would sling her like a stuffed animal. We were VERY careful not to let them out side together, but I messed up and my error allowed them out together unobserved. The other dog slung her and broke her neck. She died instantly. I have never mourned over the passing of ANY animal or human as I did over this little precious dog. The photo isn't good, but it's the only thing that I have of her saved to a disc. She never weighed more than 4 lbs. She was some type of poodle/chi mix.
That is my African Grey Parrot, Angel, in the photo with her. |

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you our Beloved Boy Bob passed Saturday December 22nd, 2007. He was our loyal companion and guardian for 12 years. We never felt lonely or unsafe with Bob at our sides. He grew up chasing ducks along the San Diego Creek and spent many days running at the beach. Bob loved to run most of all. And pee too. He could squeeze out at least one drop no matter what. But mostly he loved to run and run. And boy was he fast!
He was a good friend to our Kahlua for five years before she passed. He also leaves behind little Sami who misses her big brother. Bob would run ahead and Sami would run so fast to catch up and bump up against him as they went along. And he was always there to protect her against the big dogs too.
We will miss him dearly for the rest of our days and we are forever grateful to Big Bob for giving us such a sweet Boy who gave us so much love and joy for so many years.

I am so sad. Ever since I saw this thread, I've been searching for pictures of my previous babies. I used to take tons of photo's of my puppies back before I had children. They are lost. I can't find them anywhere and it is killing me. Anyway, I have wasted the better part of today searching and all of last night. I found a few of the dogs when they were older and with my daughter.
1. My first baby was a chocolate min pin named Bruno Gunter. I saved him from death's door and did all of the things you are not supposed to do, but I couldn't leave that poor sick little baby. He lived to be about 12 and he was a happy boy. I had to give up my min pin's in my divorce from my 1st husband, so I had to leave them when he was only about 5....very sad day for me.
2. My second baby was an older min pin that I bought to be the companion of Bruno. Stacy Marma was 7 when I got her and a breeder was retiring her. She had many litters of show quality puppies and she was a total sweetheart. When I was pregnant, she never left my side..literally. She always rested her head on my big belly and then she watched closely after my daughter and protected her from Bruno...not that Bruno hurt her, but he was not half as sweet to her as my Stacy Marma. It totally broke my heart that I had to give her up to my ex-husband. She died an old girl, but I will still never forgive myself for letting her go. I should have fought for her.
3. Tucker boy was my husbands dog when we got married. He was a sweet old Cocker Spaniel who my youngest daughter loved to pieces. The day Tucker died, I couldn't get him out of bed. My little girl crawled in the dog bed and tried her best to get the dog up. Tucker must have had a stroke. I had to take him to the vet and have him put down. I held him while they did it. One of the second most sad days of my life. I pray that I will never have to do that again. |

Rowdy's my first rattie, so I don't have any of them... But, growing up I've always had pets, so it's a good list.
Sweet Pea (brown) and Gretchen. Childhood pets. Sweet Pea was Gretchen's mom. Sweet Pea was the best mouser ever. Gretchen was a little piggy. Sweet Pea left us first, and then Gretchen when I was about 10.

Squeaky Sneakers was found at a gas station. She was only with us for a week. She had worms and it was too bad to save her.

My first guinea pig, Butterskotch. We raised and bred guinea pigs when I was about 10. He will always be my fave. We had a total of something like 6 guinea pigs that we kept and, also, about 5 rats (not bred).

Snickers was the dog we adopted after we had to put Gretchen down. She was a dachsund/springer spaniel. Sweet dog who put up with us teaching her tricks and dressing her. My parents had to put her down about 5 years ago.

My first dog, that was actually my dog and not shares, was Caleb, a registered collie my parent's neighbors gave me. They had bought him to use as a sheepdog, but he wasn't very good at it. He was a lot of work- all that long hair!- but loyal beyond belief. He never strayed from our property, even though it was unfenced, and didn't need a leash to be walked. If you were walking, he'd be right there beside you. One day my sister's toddler snuck out of the house and wandered off down the driveway and he walked along beside her, yipping all the way, until my sister came out to see what the commotion was. I had to leave him at my parent's house when I left for college. The springtime before I moved home, 1998, they had to put him down because his hips went out on him so he could no longer even stand up. I still feel terrible I wasn't there with him. but I know my mother was there with him and he was adored by all of the family. He knew love until the very end and I look forward to seeing him again. Until then, he is in heaven walking with all the lost and lonely souls, I'm sure.

What a wonderful thread to relive those beautiful moments we had together and think on the time when they will greet us, tails wagging excitedly. I picture them all together, romping and playing in a beautiful field, waiting patiently and making new friends. |

OMG! The few weeks i have been a member here i have avoided this thread. and today i had to read it 3 times! I send my regards to all of you who lost your loved ones!!! I have an 18 yr old shih tzu at my parents house. i got her when i was 10... i love her sooo much and she has survived so much!!! but its coming down to "the day" as she is prgressively getting worse. this thread just brought that to my reality! I have my 2 new babies at home with my wife and i cannot imagine the day i will have to add to this thread! GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND THE LIL ANGELS now on your shoulders! i too am very curious to know how some of your babies passed away... so young according to the dates posted on many... and multiples at a time... fur babies and not! can we share how/why? it may help to discuss for yourself if needed, but if you are willing to share it may help us to avoid certain situations, look out for things, etc. again GOD BLESS! |
