I was surfing the web today and found this fantastic site.  I was wondering how many of you have rat mixes and that they are mixed with.  I have Chester, a Boston/Rat (brat) mix.  He definitely has a lot of character!  He loves to dig, but knows it's not allowed unless he's at the beach.  He loves to play, especially ball.  And, he usually behaves very well...except when he gets that intense terrier mind focused on something in particular (often the ball) - then he has trouble hearing me!

I think a doxie/rattie mix would be a drat or D Rat.

Wow...what a cutie!  Is Sam a digger?  I know Chester loves to dig and usually so do doxies...at least Chester is smart enough to know that he's only allowed to dig at the beach so I don't have to worry about him digging holes in anyone's lawn!

Yeah, Chester has those big ole ears and at just under 22lbs it's pretty funny.  He does get mistaken a lot for either a pitbull or "mini-boxer"...but those ears make them just so darn cute!

I emailed a guy about a Rat Terrier/ Yorkshire Terrier mix the other day. He called the pup a "Ratshire". The dog was so ugly it was cute. Supposedly it was an accidental breeding. Anyway, when I mentioned having the 10 month old neutered, the guy suddenly stopped exchanging emails. Apparently he is one of those people who believes a male dog shouldn't be altered.

My Boozer is also a Brat Terrier. He is always mistaken for a "Mini-pit bull". He is a lover. Loves to lick you to death and wants to sit by you when he is not outside doing his lizard watch.

Indeed she would be a D Rat. She would prefer the "tough" name. She has a huge terrier personality- and loved digging in mom's bedsheets. She'll do this in the morning on the weekends when I don't wake up in what she deems an "acceptable time". We play with about 11 other dogs every weekend at the creek- and she can tell when it's saturday.  She can also always tell when my co-worker and I have planned to take our dogs to the creek on a weekday. An hour-long walk is great, but when you can run fullspeed through a field of grass after a friend it is even better!

I can see how Chester is mistaken for a small boxer...my oldest brother has 2 boxers and Chester looks a lot (markings anyways) like Joey, his brindle boxer. You don't see brindle colored ratties too often, and most of them usually end up being mixes. I think the brindles are so pretty, no matter what breed they are.

Welcome! We hope to see many more pics of Chester!

Amos is a mix.  lol

I think he's part Rattie and the other part Pony!

Does that make him a "P-Rat" or a "Pony Terrier"?

Abby is (we think) Rattie/wire-haired JRT mix.  She has a beard, and some scruffies on her face, and a little bit of the longer wire-hair on her feet.   (Don't mind the splint..  she had a run-in with the floor..   from off of the couch.)   =(  We've affectionately nicknamed her "Thumper" cause when she walks on the kitchen floor, her splint goes "thump, thump, thump."

Thank you all for the compliments...he's used to receiving them!  So many people comment on his coloring and I myself am partial to the brindles as well.  His sisters' brindle is opposite of Chester - they are black with brown stripes.  We get stopped quite often asking what kind of dog he is and saying how handsome he is.  Of course, I tell him that all the time but he just ignores me.  I've actually been offered a good amount of money for him several times.  My former roommate was also offered money when she had him, but was smart enough to say no   She knew I'd kill her, then the guy who took Chester, and end up with the money (she told the guy this, too..lol).

The white puff in the picture below is one of the kittens that were born shortly after I first got Chester...and he actually still gets to visit with his kitty buddy Boo (although he's not so tiny anymore!)

Lots of people offer to take him from me - some try to bribe me with money, but you're right...no way!! LOL!  Even my boss said anytime I wanted to go away for any length of time he'd gladly take Chester (he gets along great with their dog).  He even took the picture of him peeking over the desk.  I'll try to add different pictures with my posts...

Wow! Maybe, after all this time Danny isn't a pure Rat Terrier. I've started to realize that we're at a little over 10 months and Danny is still growing. He weighs over 25Ibs at this point. Any ideas of what he may be mixed with?!

Hey, I just noticed the above dog, "Larry", is a New Rattiude rescue in Georgia.
Is his foster parent a member here? He sure is a sweet looking lil' boy!
