We adopted Bandit from the local shelter about two weeks ago. He stole our hearts about five minutes after he came into our home... and the love affair continues. What a lovable, loving little dog.

I can see why he stole your heart. What a sweetie pie! We love tons of pics so take lots more. Didyou name him Bandit or did he come with that name? I love the second pic with his belly up!! We also love stories about the everyday fun things our ratties do and get into. Looking forward to lots more photos!! Aloha, |

He came with the name Bandit. We weren't crazy about the name, but he is 8 months old and was very responsive to his name, so we decided to keep it. This is the first "rattie" that my husband and I have ever had, but we are already enamored of the breed. So smart! And so far, no bad habits... he came house-trained, he doesn't chew things up, he loves our two grandkids (and they are crazy about him, too), and he minds well. He does jump (very high) when we get home, but just for a minute. If I turn away from him and ignore him while he jumps, he stops very quickly and sits down to get his patting and his loving.
I will take some more pictures - these show him as almost being black, but the dark color is really a dark red, and what looks like tan is really more of a lighter red. He has those beautiful "golden" (sometimes greenish) soulful eyes, too. We think he's very handsome!
Looking foward to learning more about ratties and getting to know the folks on this forum!

Welcome! He's a cutie. If he's "dark red," with tan and white, then I think he's considered a chocolate tri...they're very pretty. I have a red dobie, and in some pics she comes out as almost black too, just depends on the lighting. Ratties have a way of stealing your heart the second you meet them, don't they? Congrats on the new pup, and we hope to see many more pics of him! |

Bandit is VERY handsome and what a happy lucky boy to have such a great home. Thank you for adopting him. Do you know why he ended up at the shelter? I will never understand how so many wonderful ratties get dumped or wind up in shelters. I know if mine were lost I'd be calling every shelter, vet and rescue in every direction for three states! Ratties really love to please their people and they are smart, as you have found, which makes them easy to train in most cases. Welcome! We are glad to have you here! |

| WELCOME Bandit!!! Bandit sounds like a really wonderful boy and is sooooo handsome!! I'm so glad he found his forever home with your family. Please do share more pics- we love them around here. About 4 years ago I decided I wanted a dog. I did some research on breeds and right away (before ever meeting one) decided I wanted a rattie. It took me 3 years before I met my Chloe and knew in an instant she was the one I'd been searching for. They grow on you REAL quick. 8 months later (3 weeks ago) I adopted my Bonnie from Ratbone Rescues. (Watch out! You too might want another too- lol) Ratties are so full of personality and energy, I just love them. and more every day. Enjoy!! |
