Hi, my little rattie and I just found this site.  Looks like a lot of great folks here.  My dh and I live in the mountains of Colorado.  Our rattie's registered name is Mountain Gypsy, but we call her Gyp.  Gyp is 9 weeks old and is our first purebred rattie.  We had a rat terrier mix and after his death we were devasted.  We were blessed to be able to bring Gyp into the family.  She has brought us such joy in the few days she's been with us and is helping us cope with the loss of our other dog.

Here's Gyp.

Gypsy is a beautiful little baby doll! Welcome to you and your family. You'll soon be addicted to the site like the rest of us. Hubby's uncle, who just passed away, lived for years in Denver and most recently in Colorado Springs.

Welcome!! Your little Gyp is quite the looker! Love the photos. You will find we love the photos and will want to see lots more. I have two ratties, a mini male that turned one last march and an 8 year old mini female who is a rescue. Both are type B's with the short legs. As you know, Rat Terriers have awesome personalities and litt Gyp looks like she is going to be lots of fun!

Aloha,

Love the pics... Gyp is a doll.

I just noted your signature. Please share some pics of the cattle and goats, too. "Nigerian Dwarf" and "Mini-Nubian" sounds so exotic - LOL, and I'm sure I've never seen any.

Tracey, oh you don't know what you're getting into by asking my to post pics of my livestock. I take hundreds of pics of my animals!! I would love to share them.

I just added one of my little dog, Perro, to the memorial section along with his story. I don't want to repeat it in detail again on this thread, but he was killed by mountain lion a week ago, not 50 yards from where I was. Then, a few days later, our new puppy, Gyp, was advertised by her breeder in our local paper. We are in a small town and 150 miles from the nearest city. Small dogs (except poodles, which I'm not a fan of) don't become available here very often (most people have larger breeds) and for her to be a rat was just amazing. I was in such a state of despair over Perro and all that had happened that my husband talked me into going to see this puppy. I felt it was too soon, but we made an appoinment anyway. It was love at first sight. She has not lessened our sadness, but has brought some of the joy back into our lives.

Thanks again to everyone here for such a warm welcome. I will definitely be posting pics of Gyp as she grows.

I still want to see the livestock It could be education I would know a Mini-Nubian goat if I tripped over one - LOL!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Perro but I'm glad that Gyp is helping ease your pain a little. Don't be surprised if you find yourself looking for a friend for her in the not so distant future

I have not read your story about Perro yet.... but just want to say my heart goes out to you. I cannot imagine watching your beloved dog be killed by a mountain lion! How does one ever get over watching something like that?
We're thrilled to have you become a part of us, Deb.
