It is a little blurry since it was darker in the room and I tried using a slower shutter speed but I love this photo. You can see how much Taffy loves mom and if Taffy is near Mom then Aka isn't too far behind.

What love bugs when it comes to mom and her scratchies!!

Aloha,

If Aka hops up in my lap, Taffy will try and get up there too, but then she looks over and sees Mom and it is off to hop in GrandMargie's lap.
Mom really doesn't like to be licked but Taffy has to taste mom. So mom lets her lick her hands but has the funniest face! Taffy would love to give her face kisses but Mom limits those!! LOL

Taffy will sit in the chair between mom's knees when mom has the recline back and then she will s l o w l y begin to stretch out so her paws slide up mom's tummy and then up on her chest and if mom isn't quick, Taffy makes a dash and kisses mom sometimes right in the mouth!!

She is so funny. But she loves her GrandMargie!!

Aloha,
Cheryl Wordweaver mom to Aka & Taffy

The pic may be a little blurry Cheryl, but it's great just the same. I love the light on your mom's hands and on Taffy's head and back. If I'm not mistaken, those are a crafter's hands!

Mom nursed for over 40 years. She tells me her hands are so ugly now and I always object! I tell her that those hands show the years of love and devotion she gave to so many folks, as she helped them into and out of this world, as she nursed them back to health and as she trained countless wet behind the ears interns (males) that had finished medical school and were off to be doctors. Mom should have been a doctor but back when she was young, there wasn't the money nor did women go that route as often or as accepted as it is today.

She was and still is an awesome nurse. She has been retired since '92 and now with her eyesight gone and her diabetes and arthritus so severe, she can't nurse anymore but when I'm sick, I still want her at my bedside!! Beside's being my momma, she is one heck of a nurse and will make sure the docs do it right and they won't even know she is correcting, teaching them and helping them.

Just saw this...
Obviously much love shared between your mom and your two furkids, Cheryl...
I love hearing you *talk* about your mom... who has obviously been a guiding light in your life and in the lives of many others.

"she is one heck of a nurse and will make sure the docs do it right and they won't even know she is correcting, teaching them and helping them."

I love that. That's a sign of a excellent nurse and wonderful teacher.

I love the picture, you're right, her hands are beautiful. They may look arthritic but it's because she left all the healing behind.

Well now you've done it!!  I'm sitting here with tears running down my face. You are right, she left all the healing behind for everyone else.

thank you

Those are the hands of a caring, loving person. My mama has hands like that. An older person with "pristine" hands just means that they didn't do very much in their lives.

that little Taffy brings a tear to my eye everytime I see pics. I am so happy for where she is and so sad for where she has been. She deserves a grandma's love and what a wonderful family she has found. Your mom sound so wonderful. You are not tearing up alone here!!

Thanks so much everyone! I shared this thread with my mom and she was very moved by it. Tomorrow is her 79th birthday!! and to be honest, I wasn't sure she was going to be here for it last July/Aug/Sept when she was so very very sick.

She is hoping to feel up to going to church so we shall see.

But again, thanks to all of you for your wonderfully sweet comments. I think she is pretty special. I feel so blessed to have this chance to be with her and that we are as close as we are.
My parents were divorced when I was little and my father chose not to be a part of my life so it has been me and my mom and her parents for a lot of times.

Take care everyone!!
