Here are my stiff-legged girls this morning.  You guys got any stiff-legged pics to share?

Have you ever see the pictures of people or animals posing in "letter" positions? The girls look like they are making the letter "M" or "N" in that picture.

Bob used to sleep stiff legged more often when he was a puppy. We called it his dead dog pose.

hehe! I love that, and they're both doing it!! Mic always sleeps like this when he gets warm, I'll have to try and throw a couple extra blankets on him when he isn't looking and then snap a pic

Toby does this too I just don't have any pics but I will try to get one. Toby likes to push us out of bed when we let him sleep in bed with us by stretching out his legs...

Oh that is too cute! My two do this sometimes, but my Iggy always does this! Especially when we are in bed with all four legs going straight into the middle of my back!

Amos is a stretcher too.  I just got this one of him last night.  Isn't it strange how Rattie Moms(and dads) all notice the same kinda things too?

Funny thing, is you take and bend the stiff legs, they immediately go straight and very rigid all over again. You'd think those leg muscles tensed up so rigid would not be relaxing! To me, that's one of the weirdest things about this breed. My dachshunds always slept bent, limp-legged, whether curled up or stretched out on their sides..

I can't even begin to tell you how totally *weird* Holly is with her legs! She acts like they don't belong to her... and tends to stand up all the time (even on my lap) unless I make her sit down. Her legs are stiff when she sleeps (but don't think I have any pictures) and in bed at night you feel all 4 feet pushing against whatever part of you she's touching   Not only that... but she is a compulsive pawer, and anytime she is near me that I'm not touching or petting her she is tapping me with her paw!  Have tried to break her of doing this for 3 years, and nothing has worked so far. I'm thinking some doggie size handcuffs will be my next idea!

Karen, funny you should mention about the compulsive standing Holly does. Button, for her first year, almost NEVER sat down. She stood, ran, played, but like Holly, even stood when up on our laps. So when she went to Obedience Class and the instructor said "Now we'll teach them the sit and how to hold a sit" I had to chuckle. She noticed and asked why I chuckled. Told her Button NEVER sat down and with her, it was either stand or sleep flat LOL. I not only thought she would never learn the sit command, but never thought she'd ever do a Sit/Stay. Well, it was a toughie, but she finally got to where she would sit without a treat bribe. She even went on to learn Sit/Stay or Down/Stay for 6 minutes and later, even for 15 one time waiting for the vet up on the steel table. But she would only do these things in training collar and on lead. NEVER off lead! LOL She's 3½ now and still more of a stander than sitter.

Funny dogs!  Rowdy will sometimes lay on his back with his legs straight up in the air, but usually that means he's waking up and wants to be petted.  He's actually a curling sleeper.  Makes it great to sleep with him!  He always curls up in a ball up against my legs, chest, or back to slep.

Max like to sleep with his little paws stretched out as FAR away from his body as possible...if he's between Kevin and I, he will put his front paws out on one of us and his back paws on the other and PUSH!!!!!!!! Makes it REALLY hard to sleep with him!!
