I was too excited to wait and read the manual, so I had to take a few pictures first. I have no idea what I am doing, haha.  This camera has all kinds of buttons and settings.  I just put the battery in it and took a few pictures.  I'm amazed at how clear they were.  I can't wait until I actually know how to work the thing!

Whenever I get a new "toy" I always play with it first, then read the manual---it makes more sense reading it if you're even a little familiar with what they are talking about.

YA DID REAL GOOD!  I can almost count the hairs on Bella's face!

Haha, well I went through the manual and I am still pretty confused.  I guess it will just take some time.  I'm going to see my mom tomrrow and she has a German Shepard, so I will get to take pictures of her too!

I can't get over how quickly you can take the photo's Jules!  On my small PowerShot camera you have to wait a second between pictures.  This one is immediate...just as fast as you can click the button, it can take the pictures. SO nice!

Great pics, Morgan -- you'll get better and better as time passes. I got my new 50mm lens today (the other one was defective so they exchanged it).
What were the two lens you got?

Nora, the camera came with a 18-55mm which is what I took the pictures with because I got a UV filter for it.  The other lens he got me, is the 50mm that Dwight recommended (and maybe the one you have?), but I haven't tried it yet, I still need to get a UV filter for it...I don't want it to get messed up.

The 50mm one is the 1.8 50mm canon... takes excellent pictures... I took some tonight. Dwight recommended that lens to me also. The 18x55 is a good everyday lens to use. My fav lens is my 300mm lens... but it's NOT good for portrait-type pictures. You will enjoy the camera, Morgan...but I must warn you... you'll get addicted and you'll want to start adding ACCESSORIES!!! (remotes... tripods....all kinds of filters...haha).... you'll be bitten by the bug same as we are! LOL

Yep, thats the one I got Nora. the 1.8 50mm. I'm still SO excited, haha. I LOVE taking pictures and have been wanting this camera for so long. I still can't believe he got it for me. I went to Best Buy today to buy a bag and the filter to protect the lens...oh and a CompactFlash PC Card Adapter so I can just stick the card in my laptop to get the pictures.

If you put the camera on multiple exposure you can hold it down and it will keep shooting pictures.

Congrats on your new camera Morgan!   The pictures you took look just awesome!!

I'm STILL  waiting for my new camera to come (since Sept. 3rd)... so probably shouldn't have gone with the "free shipping" offer! It is now suppose to be here on the 12th or 13th... but in the mean time I keep reading about "other things" I should get or have like adaptors, filters etc. to protect the lens, so have made another few shopping trips... yikes... stop with the shopping!!
