Hello all!
I would like to introduce you to Buddy, a stray we found a week ago and haven't managed to locate his owner (no microchip, no collar/tags, full of fleas, not fixed!). We've been actively looking for the owner and searching the lost dog ads, but have had no luck. I hate to think of someone being separated from their pet, but everyone we have talked to (including our vet), said that a week was a safe amount of time to find the owner, or let the owner come forward. So, I'm glad to say, Buddy is now a member of our crew! We also have a five-year-old greyhound named Luke, and a nine-year-old cat named Jasper. Everyone is getting along very well. If any of you also have greys/ratties, please let me know! I'd love to trade notes! I messaged with Mitzy's Mom, Mary Beth, yesterday, and she provided great advice that applied to her whippet and ratties.
LOVE the forum, and I'm looking forward to knowing all of you and your sweeties!

| Welcome to the group. I would say a week is ample time for an owner to come forward. Any clue as to how old this little guy might be? He sure is a cutie. |

Thanks! I'm thinking he is about a year...he seems/looks pretty young, but I wouldn't say he's a puppy, per se.
He's having his full vet visit on Tuesday (neutering, shots, microchipping, exam), so we should know his age for certain then! |

| Ha! Yeah, "Buddy" became his default name...it's tough to foster a pet and not call them something when you are trying to get their attention! I was able to add another pic to my profile, too. |

| Luke (the grey) has been doing good, I've just been a bit of an overprotective mom! Luke is a very passive, sensitive fellow, whereas Buddy is...let's say...more "direct!" However, Buddy seems to be taking cues from Luke, and they enjoy lots of lazy couch time, in addition to the occasional sprint in the backyard. I just don't want Luke to feel displaced. He's always done great with other dogs, but I want him to still feel as special as he did when he was the only dog, too. |

| You'll find you have plenty of love and attention for both boys. Ratties have spurts of energy, but they also like to sleep and be couch potatoes too. Are greyhounds like that? |

Greyhounds are definitely like that, too! It's been really fun to watch them run together in the backyard. Since ratties have Italian greyhound in them, I think Buddy's really given him a run for his money when it comes to running laps! But the hard running only happens once or twice a day. They rest of the day is pretty lazy! |

| Welcome to you and Buddy and Luke. I got my Bailey about the same way you got Buddy. My friend found her in her yard and we never found her owner, so I kept her and that was 3 years ago. I can't wait to see more pictures. |

| Thanks to everyone! We are so happy to have found the site...you all are great! I think Buddy and Luke have worked out some of the kinks in their relationship. Luke seems a lot less mopey and seems to be assertive when Buddy becomes too much of a handful, which I'm really glad about. Keep Buddy in your thoughts while he has his...uh..."surgery" on Tuesday! Anyone have any advice of what I can expect (physically/temperment-wise) when Buddy comes back from his "fixing"? |
