The past 2 days I have been working with Kami to try teach her how to 'sit'. Maybe I am trying to teach her too soon?? She is 12 weeks old and she just looks at me like I am crazy when I try teach her....

I am using the same method I used with Macie where I have her standing in front of me and I push down on her but to make her sit, tell her 'good job!!!' and then give her a treat.... over and over again....

Doesn't seem to be working as easy with her... just wonderin if you think I am doing this wrong or have any better advice for me!! Thanks!

I should also add that Kami knows what 'come', 'treats', 'car ride', 'go outside', and 'come inside' mean...

Some dogs seem easier than others. Does she just keep standing when you push down on her? Maybe try having a lead on her and holding her front quarters up by the collar while pushing down on her hindquarters. My girls learned that pretty quickly but I had to really work on making them STAY in the sit position.

Skipper just goes sort of stiff and won't move when I try with him....he has a tendancy to that when confronted with new things. I think it's because his previous owner was rather harsh with him.

She's very young... I would give it a break for a few days and then try again. At that age, their attention span is about 1 inch long at best!

KAMI KNOWS HOW TO SIT NOW!!!!

I tried again to teach her when i got home from work yesterday by using her dog food as 'treats' and she finally got the hang of it!! It only took about 15 minutes too.... OH and I taught Macie how to give 'High fives' I'm so excited!!

When I tell Macie to high five she gives me a high five, then lays down, then rolls over, then sits and then holds her hand out for me to shake it haha.. its HilariouS!!
