I had so much fun my 2nd week of school... not quite so nervous!  I got an "A" on my equipment test (so old thought I probably didn't remember how to even take a test!) but we're having an anatomy test next Wed. and that one is going to be much harder!

I'm posting some pictures from last week:

1) This was the entire class (all 4 of us!) that the instructor took of  our 1st dogs last week
2) Border Collie , Jerry Lee
3) Lhasa X, Muffin (was 100% angel!)
4) Samoyed,  Simba
5) I helped with this beautiful Great Pyrenees, Spud.. Isn't he grand!!
Can hardly wait to do my 1st poodle cut!

Karen Would not have guessed it could look like so much fun. The dogs look wonderful, thanks for sharing. You'll have to share when you do that poodle cut. Anatomy? Do you want us to quiz you??? You'll do great.

Looks like you're having so much fun Karen!  And it sounds like so much fun- get to work with dogs all day and then go home to your adorable two!    Sounds sweet!  I'm sure you'll do well on your tests.  You'll be great!!

Thanks guys!

It is so much fun... and even my "bad boy" Zak last week, a Corgie ( that I didn't get a chance to get a picture of) didn't even bother me. He was an older dog, and 2 of his Corgi "sons" come in with him, a family of 3!  All three of them had "reputations" that proceeded them... hating everything from a bath to nail trimming... and needed to be muzzled from the start. I was a little nervous at first, but with Zak muzzled, as long as I knew I wasn't going to get bit I was just fine working on him. What really melted my heart was that whenever I was working near Zak's head... he would sneak his tongue out of the muzzle trying to give me some  KISSES  even though he didn't like what I was doing to him!  I'd look into his sweet brown eyes... and let him give me a couple of kisses.. and then we'd get back to business!

I just love dogs... and can't think of anything else I could do with the rest of my life that I would enjoy more than this (that even earns an income)!!!

Hi Janelle,

Not sure how old you are now... but I'm so happy that you got involved with grooming with you were only 18! I really wish I'd started this 30+ years ago! I hesitated at first about going to grooming school at my  age (53)  but then again... I don't think there is any new career that  is that easy to get started in at my age!  Thanks for the poodle tip! :-)  My instructor started grooming at 18 too, and has been grooming for 28 years, She has been teaching for 12 years. She learned by the seat of her pants too... and is a wonderful teacher! Maybe you'll be a teacher someday too, as well as a groomer?
