So, Niko and I have learned a new trick, but it only really works when he's really excited, or when I come home from work.

I clap twice, and he jumps in my arms.  Not a big deal, but super cute nontheless.

That is so cute! I don't think Jack would get that one. And it is a crowd pleaser too I am sure!

Hehe. Yeah, but it doesn't work all the time. I'm just hoping to get him to do it more regularly

Lucy does an "Up" too. When she was a puppy my trainer had me teacher her that in case she ever gets into trouble or needs to be held. When we went back for agility she would always tell me how jealous she was that she couldn't do that with her dogs because it is her favorite trick. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! It was just for fun, but now, I see I should do some more with this...in case I need him for any reason.

Sounds so cute!  I bet Rowdy could pick that one up.  he's always trying to jump into my arms when I first come home.  But he's just too big and heavy for me to be catching.  I think in his case it could go very wrong if he puts on weight!

Great trick, though!!!

I was hoping to teach Button that one, too. She has such loooong legs and can jump clear up to our face repeatedly! But, alas, she will NOT jump into our arms unless we're seated. Some dogs exhibit naturally what must be trained or is impossible for others.

Bob would knock me over if he tried to jump into my arms. He's a full-figured boy.

Bailey does it... it's very easy to train actually.
As with anything else... you start with treats... haha
Start in a squat position with one leg where the knee is on the ground and the other leg the foot is on the ground (geez... does that make sense?) and first get him to jump on your upper leg (I use the "UP" verbal command with it). After he gets the hang of that you start standing up and I pat my chest and say UP and he jumps up and I catch him. It took me about 1 hour to teach Bailey to do it... these little dogs catch on so fast.
