Hi Everyone!
I found this site by accident, but browsed it for over an hour before I knew what was happening. This is too cool!
We had a 26 pound Chihuahua that, after much research, we decided must be part Rat Terrier. Honestly, we know both parents and they look like any other Chi, so someone in the past must have gotten a little too friendly with a Ratty.
We lost Paco to acute pancreatitis (sp?) at the age of three in March of 2007. It happened in a matter of hours and I will never forget that horrible look of pain and confusion on his face.
Blue joined our family in August of 2007 at the age of four months. He weighed four pounds at the time. Now at the age of one year, seven months (his birthday is April 12), he weighs 13 pounds. He is a tri-blue with A LOT of ticking. The person who was originally going to get him wanted his tail intact and I'm so glad because I love to see that tail wag!
We went with a Ratty because we love the intelligence of the breed and all the little quirks that give them such personality. I searched for almost three months before finding a breeder anywhere near us - Mesa, AZ - nine hours away. Blue was worth every second of that drive!
Blue mixed in quite well with our Chihuahua, Heeler, and Border Collie/Australian Shepard. Blue thinks he's a Heeler, too, when it's time to move the big animals. The older cats had to show him who's boss, but my daughter got a kitten at about the same time and they are best friends.
I've never joined anything like this before, but really enjoyed reading many of the different postings, especially the one's about their little guys not wanting to go out to do their business in the rain. Mine too! I have to go out with him to a spot under a huge pine tree on one side of the house that usually stays pretty dry. Otherwise he'll wait .....and wait........
I look forward to looking at pics. i haven't had a chance to do that yet.

I heard about this earlier today... I'm shocked too! The story continued tonight on MSNBC, this story is all over the national news!! Yeah!! I sure hope they can close down as many puppy mills as they can! My sister has a Petland near her and she always told me that she had a bad feeling about that place and never went in there. |

Thank you all for agreeing with me!
Now, can you please explain to me why Blue is desperate to sit in my lap every time I go to the site? He doesn't do it when I am working in my gradebook online.
Love this site!

Welcome to the site! And of course Blue wants to sit in your lap while you are on the site. LOL He's checkin' out all the cute Rattie girls here and catching up on all the rattie gossip and stuff. You know that Blue enjoys the site almost as much as you do and he's probably on it when you aren't looking too! Oh and congrats on Blue who will "hold it" when it's raining. I have one that is having problems learning to "hold it" even when the weather is good! |

Good luck with that!
If Blue has to wait too long, he has chosen one certain bath mat. He used to use the potty pad I would leave down. However, he rarely even blesses the bath mat. I have gotten a few dirty lokks as he goes...and goes... and goes.....
At least the bath mat is easy to throw in the washer when the need is urgent. |
