I finally heard back from the trainer. She is thinking that her Fun-gility class will be starting up in 3 weeks or so. I kind of hope it's more like 5 so I'm done with school. Also hope that it's not on Monday or Tuesday nights if it does start sooner. But if scheduling works out Lucy will be playing around with agility soon. I think it will be fun.

I'm excited. Lucy will have fun. This is her little blurb on the class from her website. Sounds good for Lucy at this point. She has some really interesting classes, for instance she has an out on the town class that takes the dogs downtown and to other public places to learn how to act.

FUN-gility

Have fun with your dog while building obedience skills. Agility helps build your dog's confidence, improves your handling skills and is just plain fun! This is not a class for those desiring to move into competition agility.

Her blurb makes it sound like if you are going into competition agility... it's NOT fun, although I'm sure she didn't intend for it to sound that way. I do plan to go into competition agility.... and although it's a lot more difficult than I had anticipated... it's fun too! It builds a bond with your dog and allows you to read each other and work as a team. I'm glad you and Lucy are doing this, Colleen!

I think she might say that because she has some competition classes. Like this one.

Rally Obedience Level 1

A hot new teams sport where handler and dog negotiate a timed course completing obedience moves along the way. This is an APDT and AKC titling sport so you can continue on to compete, or just have fun honing your handling skills.

But I know what you mean with her wording. I think it's so people are scared to try the course out if they have dog that would rather be rolling in the mud than do the tricks. I think I would probably be a little intemidated if I were to take agility with an instructor who was more focused on competing for my our first class. She also has a clicks and tricks class that would be fun. But I'm guessing Lucy would have to know to lay down for that one.
