GRRRRR!!!! The kids accross the street are driving me crazy! Sometimes we take Charlie out in the front yard to play with his toys because there are two dogs out back that will steal his toys if he brings them out there so we go out front to play fetch every once and a while.

Well the kids will sit there in there yard and call him "Charlie, Charlie come here puppy!" I cant even tell you how many times I have told them not to do that but they dont listen!!!!! He listens to me when I tell him not to go over there but Im worried that if he ever got out and they called him and he ran accross the street he could get hit by a car! So Im going to go talk to there mom and if this doesnt help Im not going to take him out there anymore and Im not going to let those kids come play with him anymore! Once the little girl just came in to the house while I wasnt there and took off with him! Ewww! I was sooooo MAD! He is not thier dog and no one gave her permission to take him. And all her mom said was oppps!

Sorry about the ranting this just makes me soo mad! I dont know what I would do if something happened to him!

Parents!! I would be very angry with my children of they did any of that!! How did they just walk in your house and take him?? That is crazy, I would definately speak to their parents!

I really dont care if they come over and play with him but they CAN NOT just take him whenever they feel like it. Its hard for him to not want to go over to the kids cuz he loves kids. Im just so worried that if he ever gets out that they will call him and he will get hit by a car. He is sooo tiny I highly doubt a car would be able to see him.

That happened to my dog when I was a kid. She was about 6 months old, a colllie. The kids were walking up the other side of the street and were calling here doggie! She ran and got hit, broke her ankle. Thank goodness it wasn't worse. But I swear to this day they saw the car and meant it. Not saying those kids do, but it can happen very easily so I understand your concern!

I don't share Diego. Neighbor kids wanna pet a puppy... they should talk to their parents about getting one. I don't need the liability of Diego biting some kid anyway. His initial reaction to other people is to hide behind my legs if they reach for him anyway he struggles and chokes himself at the end of the leash.. at that point if they reach further he will snap at them.

If everyone recieved kind of love my Diego gives me, there would be world peace.

That's one of the reasons why I decided to invest in obedience classes, because kids have a knack for ignoring your wishes...so do our 4-legged kids.
Have you considered a doggy play pen? I ordered one the other day, to make sure that Penny and playmate don't get hurt.

Yep---a lot of kids, usually under the age of 10, anyhow, just see something they want and figure it's theirs to use---even your dog!  I have a bunch of agility equipment in my side yard--a teeter, a-frame, dog walk, tire jump, etc, and some of the neighborhood kids around me seem to think it's their personal playground!  I see them out there playing on that stuff all the time, and I have to remind them that it's for my DOG.  I'm not trying to be the neighborhood "Grumpy Old Man" but I know as sure as the sun rises, that if one of them got hurt playing on it, their mom & dad would be calling a lawyer to file a lawsuit.  The kids around here dont call Lucy to come to them---they all run across the street into my yard to play with her.  SO if anyone is risking getting hit by a car, it's the kids here---which I've asked them NOT to do, but they do it anyway.

There are places to take stray dogs and cats when they show up in our yards... can we create a place to take stray kids?   Maybe if they had to go to the kid pound to pick them up they would keep them in their yard!

Most of the kids who ended up in the pound, would probably stay there; mom and dad would assum new identities and move out of the state.  (did I just say that out loud)

The neighbor kids that used to live by us used to call Cassie different dog names and they would say she was their dog,i had to tell them "She's not your dog and she will never be your dog!!!"and then i'd tell them "you better go back home before i send you back to the day you were born!".which would frighten them and make them run home
