Last night was the perfect night for us. It was cool out, the babe was not throwing a tantrum, so hubby decided we'd go out for Starbuck's and
a stroll. I waited outsite with Penny while the boys went in.
No sooner than the doors close do I hear, "Woof, Woof!"
I ignored it, until the person kept doing it. At which point, I looked over and this teenager's back is to me. I could not believe my eyes. He was acting as if here were drop-kicking Penny, like a football (Do you all remember the yorkie that was killed by two teens, who thought it was 'fun' to kick her back and forth, like a ball?).
The days of riding a sardine-packed subway kicked in. Heck, being a protective mother kicked in. I wanted to just BOP that kid upside his frosted-haired-head!
His friends say, "Hey dude, she's staring at you."
I said, "Yes. I am staring at him, because he's acting like a jerk."
He replied, "I was just teasing."
I replied, "Um...yeah, but there's nothing attractive about it."
He apologized and I think he was embarassed, because by now, all of the young girls were looking at him with a grimmace.
I just don't understand some kids today. At his age, my parents would have had my head, at the THOUGHT of even jesturing to hurt an animal. How darn cruel!!!
Ok...feel better...morning y'all and big hugs

There was a time when I would have "kept my cool", but I think those days are gone. I cant tolerate seeing anyone---any age---being cruel or even pretending to be cruel to an animal just for the "fun" of it. I let them know what idiots they are. |

| I heard on the news this morning that 4 kids were being "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law" for setting a german shepherd on fire ... and of course, it died while they stood there laughing. It made me want to vomit. They weren't smart enough not to get caught though, because a neighbor witnessed the whole thing and called 911. You don't even WANT to know what I think should be done to these boys... the oldest of which was 13 !!! What's wrong with people????????????????? |

A few weeks ago, a guy left his dog in his car while he went in to a place for a while. Some other guy who had a fight with him and wanted to get back at him, broke into his car and killed the poor doggie that was in there. Broke my heart. WHAT THE HECK IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!! Geeze |

| Good grief...these stories make me sick. Locally we had two guys that broke into a shed to steal an ATV and there was a new puppy in there and one of the guys beat it to death with a hammer or some blunt object. I just can't imagine how messed up an individual has to be to do things like this. But I love our local county sheriff - who said, and i quote: "I'd like to take him into a shed and beat him with a hammer". He doesn't tolerate these kinds of acts against children/defenseless animals - you can always tell he gets so upset, but he's not the judge and jury and the laws - event to their fullest extent - aren't harsh enough. |

| I think some people have a compassion gene missing, as well as a common sense gene missing. I would have caused a big scene too. I just don't understand how people can be mean to children and animals. And let's not forget elder abuse too! Some people are just evil. |

I saw that, too Nora, that was heartbreaking, I can't imagine how scared that poor dog was and then one of the kid's Mom's said "My kids usually don't set anything on fire." USUALLY?! I'm glad you put that kid in his place, it's not funny to mimic hurting an animal at all. |

Wow, that's good restraint. I'm glad he didn't go crying to his parents. Geez! Tracey, I can't believe that poor puppy! Makes me want to cry just thinking about it. I think that if someone hurts an animal, then they should have it done to them. That's my personal opinion. |

people are such jerks! Doreen's story reminded me of this dog that came in to my dad once with 2 broken legs. The owners mother brought the dog in and said the little dog was hit by a car. My dad looked at the legs and the break was too clean to be a hit by car and just the legs were affected. Anyway the mother later told my dad that her daughters boyfriend got pissed at her and put the dogs legs in a screen door and slammed the door. UGH why do ppl take crap out on animals. Makes me so angry! |

I hope this opened the mother's and daughter's eyes about what kind of person the boyfriend is. A lot of sociopathic people start out by being mean to animals and escalate to hurting humans. I'd be afraid he'd do something to one of their kids if they got married and had kids.

My restraint is due to having Chase. Prior to his birth, I was a loose cannon. I do not want to be a bad example to him (and I get sick of my hubby telling me that someone's going to one day take me up on my offer to pull over to see if I can kick their butt). |

Exactly right that sociopaths often are cruel to animals as children....psychopaths, too. They totally lack empathy. Some of the guys you see on trial for murder that have no emotion (Scott Peterson, Phil Spector, serial killers, etc.) could very well have abused animals when children.
And no matter mental illness they have as an excuse - it's still evil! |

| Yeah I know what you mean. Nothing is shocking anymore when you hear these horrible things on the news. There are lots of nuts in the world. One of my brothers friends used to go to graveyards at night and knock down old grave stones. He got caught and arrested, thank goodness. Made me think of your story, kids do really stupid disrespectful stuff around that age. |

My best friend's ex husband used to beat their dogs really bad. One time he was beating their Beagle/Bassett Hound mix with it's metal chain leash and I took it away from him and hit him with it before I thought about it. My husband explained it off as hormones because I was pregnant with my middle child at the time but I will tell you I would do it anytime. I'm just glad Angie (my friend) never had kids with him I used to think if he does that to the dog what would he do to a kid? My neighbor was high one day with his teen buddies and decided to jump our 8 foot fence and tease my Great Dane well he shot him and HE WAS IN OUR YARD!!!! Needless to say they arrested him and I think he was the one that let the rest of my dogs out which I never found 2 weeks later when he got out of jail. I hate people who are cruel to anyone helpless be it a animal, a child or the elderly it makes me sick!!!! |

| Makes you wonder what that boy's parents are like. The thing that gets me is how they will defend their kids and then be shocked when their child is caught. We had a family on our street whose son was a big bully both to animals and to other kids smaller than himself. When I went to talk to the mother she said "boys will be boys" . A few years later, when he was arrested for rape, she could not understand how her son could do such a thing. She told the news "he had never really been in trouble before". I guess getting expelled from school did not count. |
