We went over to my Aunt and Uncle's for Christmas with the family. When we got back home our blinds were torn to pieces from our rattie trying to look out. Has this ever happened to any of you?

Not to me specifically, but I do have a friend that has a rattie that does that. He raises his blinds so that Willy can see out and can't get to them. If you do not want to do that, you might try crating your rattie while you are gone. I have had to revert to crating mine while we are going because of accidents in the house. It is really a great tool and keeps them safe.

Yes, crating will keep your rattie safe and everything in your home safe. No doubt she was anxious about you leaving her.

We will definitely start crating her. Once we do we will make sure to give her toys and bones in her crate that will keep her busy

yes we have also had to Crate Train trixi...when we first got her like for the first couple days...i mean like 2...we let her stay out...when we came home to a little mess, we decided to crate train her...now she goes in there on her own choice sometimes, when shes sleepy or cold...its her safe secure place that is just her own! makes me happy to know that she LIKES it in there! good luck!

I had the same problem with Riley. He stays at my boyfriends house during the day and the 3rd day he was there he chewed a hole just big enough to fit his head through so he could see out the window (he loves being able to watch the neighborhood). He's never chewed anything else and he has his "porthole" to see outside so he's happy. LOL!

I know how you feel, I've replaced the blinds so many times because of my rattie that I eventually gave up and just cut them in half. Once I did that, she calmed down and now sleeps in front of the window.
