She's much better but extremely gassy . I figured I might as well give her 1/2 tsp before bed or there is no way I'll be able to sleep with her in this condition.
So anyway...I put it in the little cup and acted like it was a treat, but alls she did was sniff it, start snorting, then howled. Then turboed.
How do you give dogs this stuff?? |

I have a little syringe for when I have to give Bella liquid medicine. Other than that, I have NO idea! Hmmm.... Maybe mix it with something else to make it yummy for her, but I can't think of anything. |

If she's already sick, I'm afraid mixing it with something might make her sick again. Maybe ice cream? Just enough to make it sweet enough for her to want to drink it? |

I don't think dairy would be so great for her tummy-troubles. Since she seems to be ok now (except for the gas) I guess I just won't worry about it. Please pray that I'll be able to breath tonight |

Yeah, I think I'd do the same thing. If I had to choose, I think I would choose gas over upset tummy! |

| You could paint it on her nose and she would have to lick it off to get clean. Or in spoonfulls in her mouth. |

Only way i know to do it is to hold her mouth open (without getting bit)pour it in and than hold her mouth closed.she'll have to swallow it to breathe.she might be mad at you for a few hours but it's the best way i know how.

| Nat - for future needs, you need to use a syringe. 5 cc (or ml) equals one teaspoon. Put the med in the syringe and then put the syringe tip in the corner of her mouth and dose her that way. It is good to have a syringe handy in case of emergency (for instance, if you had to induce vomiting). Just add one to your doggie first aid supplies for future use. |

| Where do you buy syringes? I've always gotten them from vets for horse stuff....can you buy them at drugstores? Probably a dumb question but... |

You can get them in the pharmacy section of most any store. They're often used for babies and small children to get the correct dosage and make taking meds easier |

| How's cookie today???? Hope she's feeling better. You can buy reusable medicine syringes in either the medicine department or baby area in most stores. The are used to dose infants and kids so should have small enough measurements. |

| Nat-I had to try and give the newfie (where I work) some pepto. She did the same thing, just sniffed it, and she will usually eat anything. It's so thick, don't know if it would have fit in a syringe. They do sell pepto in tablets, more of a sneak it in lunch meat type of trick. |

I keep the pepto tablets around- Russ crunches em right down like a treat, but he's not super picky. (I give him half a tab, he's around 20 pounds) For liquid, I would hollow out a piece of hot dog and pour it in. Or mix it in with something wet she likes- got any canned cat food, dogs find that irresistable?
By the way NEVER give pepto to a cat- they cannot metabolize the asprin in it. |

Rocky got into the Easter candy last year and the vet told us to give him some Pepto. We had the same problem. He hated the taste. I did find a trick that seems to work although it can be a bit messy. I use the tablets. I crush a tablet between 2 spoons and used peanut butter to hide the powder. He doesn't gobble it down like it was straight peanut butter but I think the smell and taste of the peanut butter is strong enough to hide the smell and taste of the pepto, at least enough so that he'll eat it. I've found that starting out with 1 tablet means that I'll get about half of the tablet in Rocky. (The crushing tends to make a mess and you lose some of the pepto.)
I tried to just hide the tablet in some peanut butter but he'd eat the peanut butter and spit the tablet on the floor.
I hope Cookie's feeling better! |

| Or you can get an eye dropper type of thing to squirt the medicine into her mouth. Sometimes the pharmacist will give you one for free. |

| Whenever we have to give Penny meds she might balk at(rare as she thinks everything is food) we first put her on the washing machine. The metal surface makes her stand stock still and it's easy to open her snout, put in ear drops or anything else you need to do where she may otherwise object. It's the same principle as the metal table at the vet's office. |

Hi everyone, I'm new here =)
My trick to get Tommy to take medicine is to cut a cherry tomato in half, scoop out the insides, and use it as a little cup. He'll gobble down the tomato before he even realizes there's anything in it. =D |
