I got this AWESOME book yesterday call 'the only dog tranning book you'll ever need' by Gerilyn J. Bielakiewicz and everything in there fits fenway to a tee! The biting and getting in the trash and great tranning tips.

Also it a chapter about biting and it said to get bitter apple spray. And you can spray it on wood and things so we sprayed it on the couch and he has not chewed on the couch once.

So i reccomend this book to anyone who has problems getting threw to your dog.

Last night i was so excited to get home and start teachin him. i got a hand full of treats and taught him to sit and lay down. He did get the sit and lay part confused though, i thought it was cute. But he also now knows how to take treats nicely and how to sit and wait till he is told to get them.

Next step its to train him not to run out the front door when its open.

Good job!!!! A well-trained dog is a happier dog Glad you are taking your doggie owner role seriously and working on Fenway's behavior. I wish everyone did.

it is so exciting to see fenway learing. Im so proud of him. I want to teach him so much but i need to be patient and work on one thing at a time. If  i didnt get this book i probally would know that he wasnt getting enough excersise.

I was wondering sometimes when fenway jumps off the couch he hits his head on the table. It doesnt seem to effect him but i was wondering if that is bad for him, im sure its not good but i mean could he have brain damage or can dogs get concussions?

there will be times he will be sleeping and he will just start twitching and his eyes will roll back in his head.

Hes like a little kid to me i kinda of treat him like one to i baby him sometimes when he gets introuble i feel bad afterwords.

That is fantastic that he is catching on really fast. These dogs are really smart. Keep up the training and he will do just about anything that you want him to.

Fenway's Mom,

I have no idea about the head injury thing but Aka, my 3 and 1/2 month old puppy seems to slam into things a lot too. At his next vet visit, I plan on asking my vet about it and have him check his eyes, etc. Like you I tend to baby Aka but he is so sweet and also so little.

When sleeping, dogs will twitch but I don't know about eyes rolling up. At your next vet visit, it wouldn't hurt to ask about it. and if it is a long time till your next visit and it seems to be getting worse, you can always call them.

I'm glad you have found a great training book. I am doing some reading and will add that book to my list!

Thanks!!

Nibbler does that. And he barks and growls in his sleep haha. I think the eyes rolling are like the doggie REM or soemthing because his seem to do that when he's sleeping.
Now if his eyes rolled back and then he went to "sleep" maybe that's a problem....

Keep up with the training. Sounds like he is learning fast, don't give up.

HAve you bought a rope toy? I would wet it and freeze them when the dogs were in their biting stage, the pet stores are some toys that you freeze. I would think about getting one. Here is one at Petsmart: you wet it and freeze it, for puppies-- http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441779323&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026207&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1181607194705&itemNo=12&In=Dog&N=2026207&Ne=2

LOL about the bitter apple, we used that way back when, I sprayed it on the chair and Gizmo walked up and started biting on it, bitter apple didn't phase her. Glad it is working for Fenway.
