My little rattie is getting bit up by mosquitos.  Does anyone know if you can put something on your puppy to stop the mosquitos from biting them.

I think that there are some bug sprays made for dogs.

Actually I found this recipe online

Citronella Bug Spray for Dogs Recipe

1/3 cup ethyl rubbing alcohol
1 drop liquid hand soap (plain, unscented)
3 teaspoons citronella essential oil
2 teaspoons camphor oil
2 tablespoons mineral oil

In a small bowl or jar, add ethyl rubbing alcohol and camphor oil, gently stirring to combine. Then add citronella, continuing to gently stir. Then add liquid hand soap and mineral oil. Pour liquid into a small spray bottle (you can find them in the garden supply area, or smaller travel-sized ones in the beauty section).

To use, spray mist your dog lightly, avoiding the eye area, and any areas of broken skin (ie. from previous bug bites that are hot spots).

But I think you can find a natural insect repellent or child strength that will be safe.

My vet said to get Avon Skin-so-Soft repellant, put some on a paper towel and wipe him down. ITs safe to use because it doesn't contain the toxic ingrediants like OFF.

That stuff is great but it doesn't work on black flies that have been biting Abby. Just put Frontline on her....hate using all the chemicals on her.

I use the Avon skin so soft on me, the dogs (not often because the city sprays here and usually the mosquitos aren't too bad) and even my horse!

Mosquitos are pesty, but black flies are EVIL (they actually bite and CHEW! Ick). Poor Dilly's entire underside is getting devoured. I've tried the Skin-so-soft with no luck (and she HATES the smell of it!), I use the Citronella natural repellant, doesn't seem to help either. I'm afraid to put chemicals on her. I treat her bites with pure aloe vera gel twice a day. She LOVES that, rolls right over on her back and pretty much says: Lay it on me, momma! She doesn't lick it off even (it wouldn't hurt her if she did). They heal up quickly and don't seem to bother her like they do me!
