This morning...for our 13th Wedding Anniversary, I actually go out of bed early and made my husband breakfast before we left for work.  Couple strips of Bacon, and a lovely, fluffy, omlet w/cheese & veggies in it.  I set it on the table and walked out of the kitchen to call him to the table, took 3 steps back into the kitchen and was pouring my coffee.  Hubby comes in kitchen and is standing at table looking his empty plate and said..."thought you said breakfast was done".....I looked at the empty plate...looks like nothing was ever put on it. ...I looked around the kitchen...and under the table...licking her chops...was Daddy's little princess...... The look on her face was comic....it was like...."what you looking at me for...I didn't do it"

Needless to say, I didn't give her any doggie food today!

Carrie,

I can only imagine the reaction! That is too funny. I have food stealers too, but none as quick as yours.

Hendryx tried this when he was still a puppy, but we taught him early on that his presence on the dinette chairs would lead to a violent reaction. The only person he gets away with begging to at the table is my 87 YO mother to whom you can't say anything.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!

While Lacey and Pokey don't get up to table level, our big gray cat will stalk whatever is temporarily left unattended. But never fear, Lacey is on duty, and she barks like crazy whenever the cat makes a move towards our food. The cat just gives her a "drop dead" look and skulks off, and Lacey gets a reward for protecting "the kill"

Been there; done that with past dogs.  And it's still funny every time it happens!  Button did it once, but never again because we always push our chairs in for this very reason.   Zipper just doesn't think of such things.  She has never snatched food even when it's pretty easy pickens & close to her mouth.     She waits for you to give it to her.
