just wondering the best way to teach the "bow" position on command..like the butt up in the air play bow position....just curious....I would love to teach my pups and both of them lay on the "lay" command....hmmmm ...any tips?

I kind of lure between the front legs slowly.  Just until the dog brings the front end down.  Ratties are good at "Bow". Such flexible little dogs. 
My Maggie just loves to "Crawl" as well.

I just taught Trixy "bow"  yesterday.  We were sitting outside and I told her to lay down.  She doesn't like to lay down on the patio,  I guess is too hard far her.  anyway, she will only put her front two legs down, as though she is in the "bowing" position,  I just gave her a treat and acting all happy,  and kept telling her bow, instead of laydown.  To mee it is easier is to just let them do it and then give treats and get excited,  that way they kow they have done something right.

I use the verbal command 'curtsy' rather than the verbal command "bow" because in agility the dog has to go down VERY fast on the table and it all happens so fast, that "down" can easily sound like "bow" so I had to choose a verbal command that did not sound ANYthing like "down" lest I confuse Bailey.

Now, I don't use a verbal at all. I simply hold my foot out to the side and he bows.   Once he's in the "curtsy" position, I added the command "stay".  So he now stays in that position until I give the release command, which is always "OK".

yea I notice that Trixy misunderstands "bow" for "down"  as well,  didn't think about "curtsy".  she is not on hand jesters to.  I need to invest in a clicker, lol,  I am snapping right now, it begins to hurt.  lol.  I want to put trix in agility, as well,  just having a hard time finding a place near me that trains!!! I am assuming that this area is not very dog friendly.
