Cameo and I went to the vet yesterday to follow-up on her mange treatment.  She's not afraid to get in the car or to go to the vet.  She loves to ride with me and was tugging her little heart out to get insdie when we got to the front door.

There's no visible evidence of patching and her coat is completely grown back with just a little pink showing around her mouth.  We got her nails trimmed (they forgot the last time were in), and I asked to check her ears as she's been scratching a lot lately. He got some stuff out of her left ear and did a scraping, having a difficult time picking places to scrape.  The results of the scraping: no critters seen.  Doc Young wants to keep her on the Ivermectin for another month to make sure they're gone for good.  Cameo will be one year old this month and my understanding is a healthy immune system should start to kick in around now and keep the little buggers at bay.  He also said she's got a yeast infection in one ear, hence the digging, and sent us home with drops and said to give her an ear rinse twice a week until the ear drops treatment is complete.  Her right eye is a little irritated, probably due to Nala chewing on her face.  Otherwise he looked her over, front to back, checked her neck glands, listened to her insides and said she's doing fine.  He sent us home with 3V supplement a couple of months ago and we feel this has helped with her coat growth.  Rattagan is getting it also as it claims to help with joint heath.  With the way his fur is growing back where he was shaved and how he is doing with his legs I think the stuff actually does some good.

Doctor Young and his vet tech (future vet) Chris are absolutley wonderful with her.  Everyone she sees at the vet's just loves her.  Cameo saw her first cat up close.  Cat was on a leash and was hissing and all the other stuff cats do, but Cameo just wanted to play...sweet girl baby.

I'm glad the scraping didn't reveal any critters, Phil!!! I'm sure the ear can be cleaned up pretty simply, right. All-in-all it sounds like a great report. Glad that she enjoys going - that's half the battle sometimes!

She is always a good girl no matter where we take her. Even the Pet Supermarket, she sniffs things but doesn't try to take anything off the shelves. I'll just be glad when she doesn't have to have the Ivermectin anymore. It seems to make her a little groggy or feel under the weather.

It sounds like slowly but surely she is getting to be 100%, I am glad the mange in under control and hope her little mouth clears up too. Such a good girl.

PS-17.2 pounds, she feels heavier, but isn't, perhaps more muscle and less fat. She's a "big" girl, but getting more nible and more excercise with Nala. While she is not jumping, she's learning to scramble up on the bed, following Nala's lead (Nala climbs the pillow pile, or uses the steps, which she learned in a less than a week).

My vet printed me out some article that says their immune system is not fully developed until 18 mos. of age. After that time, they Demodex Manage usually only recurs if the immune system is severely debilitated, as with serious illnesses.

Thanks Peggy, that's our expectaion, my research showed "after one year" as I recall. I think we've got this one beat and we'll both be happy when we can stop feeding our baby pesticide! I'm sure she will feel much better, too. It does seem to affect her slightly, some days more than others. I know I'd miserable if her coat continuned to disappear for a year and a half!
