Wow...I almost forgot how much work it can be.  My husband and I are working so hard with Willy and he's pretty smart.   It seems like Jack just picked stuff up so easy.  I remember having to work a little harder with my rattie Lacey, but she was headstrong and turned out to be a fabulous dog which I miss so very much.  Jack has always been so easy to train.  He listens very well and I dont remember having any serious issues with him. We got lucky.  Willy is smart he will sit and lay down already.  We are working on stay.  We just work with him a little every day.  Potty training is a little slow.  He's 10wks today and I think we are trained to go outside more then him.  He did hold it all night last night which is a breakthru in itself I actually didnt have to get up and hang out in the back yard in the middle of the night.  I told my hubby to take him outside this morning, but to carry him because if you set him down he will stop and pee.  Well he set him down in the kitchen and sure enough he peed.  He can be rambunctious which is fine, but him and Jack always want to wrestle in the living room or where ever we are.  So I will put them in the back yard to wrestle and they just look at me!  So I need to get a handle on being wild in the house all the time, because this boy is going to get big and it wont be as cute as my ratties were wrestling in the house.  I've never had a springer before so Im reading about training them and it sounds like they are smart and easy to train.  He has a bad habit of biting us(in play) so we work really hard on that.  If I firmly tell him NO he will stop and lay down.  He was never trained that, but everytime hes doing wrong and I firmly say no he will stop and lay down.  Funny huh?  Unless he is super wound up then he wont hear us at all.  Then I just remove him from the situation and he settles. He absolutely loves my 7yr old.  He gets so excited when he sees her.  Im teaching her not to let him jump up on her and bite her.  I know this is a rattie training forum, and Im talking about my springer, but If anyone has ever owned springers and has any training tips for me I would appreciate it.  Our goal with this boy is to mold him into a wonderful dog like our rattie is.  And I can see that if we dont take the right steps now he could be difficult.

Sorry this was so long.

I was wondering how you guys were getting a long and now I find this from DAYS ago!!! Sounds like he is doing great or at least he has trained you to get him out to potty. Nora pointed me to a book called when pigs fly by Jane Killion and it is an awesome training book! How about you post new pictures of you baby? Maybe you already did and I missed them! Anyway glad to hear he is doing so good!
