Ok, my girls don't bark much while they play outside either with each other or when they meet up with Rosie at the park.  But Skipper is another story.  When he gets excited he barks constantly!  When he's playing in the yard or  when I have him on the leash at the park and the little ones are playing.

Is this ok or is it a bad thing?

It's simply an indication that he has a different personality, is all. It's not bad OR good... it just "is". Many dogs bark or "whine" when they get excited, and some don't. Of my four, Bailey is the most verbal when he gets excited.

Ok, just making sure...another of those "new" things I hadn't encountered before.

Abby does bark sometimes when she is playing with other dogs.. Not so much with me in the house just playing with toys. Those are more growly and grunty type noises.

Somedays it's just not worth chewing thru the restraints.

Lucy is pretty quiet whether just playing w/family or playing w/ other dogs.  BUT, if she's playing with a "barker", she joins in!

He's already got that reputation!  When I get to the park Doc, Rosie's owner, tells him to "be quiet loud mouth, you'll get us kicked out of the park!" LOL

Kayla is really vocal when she plays too. She has this weird growl that sometimes scares people but I know she is just playing.

Out of the four pups that my Maggie had I got one talker. She is always making some sort of noise. Bark, whine, howl, growl, moan, always talking. I was so glad that she is the one that my daughter took home to her apartment! The rest of them are quieter. Come to think about it she is the only one that cried during shots time too.

ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH OVERDOING Mom of eight, only three left at home! Pack leader to ten ratties: Maggie, Mysty, Berry, Simon, Ceecee and five puppies, Star,Sari, Bluebelle, Double stuf, and Snortie. As well as Ginger the Border Collie and a herd of turkeys!

Nibbler always barks while playing. Whether its with one of us, another dog, or even at one of his toys.
He goes crazy if there is one of those claw hair clips on the floor lol.

Illyria just started this about a month ago. She has a bark collar that she wears all the time. Our roommate that lives downstairs can't stand her and I want to smack him (sorry, that's another story). Anyway, she has started barking while she's playing with us. Or if she wants us to play and we don't pay attention to her in the first few seconds, she barks at us. I know she's just getting our attention, but I would like to know if it can be stopped. I know that if the baby hears it now, he/she will be used to the sound and it won't phase him/her once born, but still! Any suggestions??

Someone once told me that you have to teach them to "speak" before you can teach them to shut up...don't know if it's true or not, as Baxter is not much of a barker (unless he's fiercely guarding our house against marauding cats & squirrels)...but it might be worth a try?

Emma does the barking here. If Apollo isn't playing she'll say "Apollo, come on chase me, play with me!" Then even as they are playing she'll do the barking and growling. Apollo sometimes but not so much. Emma is just a Diva. Hehehehe!

Taz is my barker. She will bark at anything especially when she is playing. Rags is quite. They have such different personalities. Taz is loud, brave, not cuddly. Rags is quite, timid, but destructive. She chews everything.

CoCo never barks. I think i've heard her bark once or twice and it was more of a squeal bark ( she was unhappy i was leaving her). She'll whine or grunt, and she "yips" in her sleep alot, but she isn't a barker. She's more the type to grunt when playing or excited and whimper quietly when she wants to be picked up and placed on the furniture she cant reach...lol

Jack has started barking a little more when he gets excited or wants my attention. I definately think it is just a personality thing. We put him in the house to eat the other night while we were out back at the neighbors. He then proceeded to run up to my boys room and bark at me from their window! It was too funny. He didn;t stop until we brought him back out. He loves to also bark at my friends dogs to try to egg them on to play.
