Fred and Alice have a great JRT buddy named Clyde. Clyde is over at least 2 times a week and Saturday night he is sleeping over like he does when Bob has night plans. We love having him and Fred and Alice have agreat time . Well Bob (Clyde's owner) has decided with all the dogs needing homes he is rescueing a female JRT this weeked. He has went and seen her and she and Clyde get along great. I am so happy Clyde is getting a sister but how will it affect our dynamic. Should we introduce Bob's female alone to Fred first then Alice? Do we have Clyde there? How do we make introductions so all 4 can play together? Should I bring Fred and Alice to Bob's first?? Not sure how to get 4 dogs to all get along so you multi doggers help out here......

Well Fred, Bob and Alice all get along and know each other already, right? This is what I would do:

Let Bob out in the yard with Fred and Alice first to get some of their excitement out and let the new dog sniff inside while they are playing (so you watch one set Guy watches the inside girl). Then have Guy bring her out on lead at first (in case there is any trouble and she needs to be grabbed and lifted out of a fight). Let them sniff. I usually only let 1 or 2 of mine meet a new dog at a time but if Bob already knows her he might not care about the running up and sniffing bit. Use a happy voice to encourage happy behavior and a stern uh-uh if any hackles raise or low growls emit. Watch for posturing. Remind them that you are really head dog. I have had very few problems that can't be resolved after a walk together and a movie on the couch so you can always use that as your back up plan.

Thanks Gwacie, Bob is Clyde's owner LOL. This girl will be Bonnie so he will have Bonnie and Clyde.

Do you think I should to this at our house or Bobs?

They are staying with you? Do it at your place if Clyde is ok there.

Yep, that's how I usually do it when I introduce a new foster. Neutral ground is better but not always practical so I introduce out in the yard, 1 or 2 dogs at a time with newbie on a leash. Watch body language, posturing, growling, etc. It's worked out fine so far that way.

I had to laugh at Bethany telling you to let "bob, fred and alice out in the yard" LOL!!!!! Thanks for starting my day off with a giggle!
