I talk with my sister last night and she is a dog trainer and she tld me some very interesting news....A friend of hers who is also a dog trainer is setting up a program to certify dogs so that they can go into nursing homes and hospitals to visit patients and residents.

I am seriously thinking of certifying both of Rainy's parents, Dodge and Mia.........

What do you all think???

I've thought about getting Lucy certified too...when my dad was in the hospital last fall, I was able to take her to see him (family members were able to get a pass and bring in family dogs as long as we didn't "visit" with any other patient), and she did amazing. Mostly she was thrilled to see my dad...she adores him...but she was able to calm down and fell alseep next to him in bed. My dad had several visiting ceritified dogs come through during the 3 wks he was in the hospital...it really lifted his spirits, and he looked forward to seeing the dogs every evening. Nearly a year later, he's still taking about those dogs. I'd say go for it!

I would go for it.  Sounds great and the visits would probably lift people's spirits

I would go for it!!!! Definitely something I want to do with Ivy when she gets a little older!!! Just today as my son who has problems with reading wanted to read to her not to me but to the dog. They are such special souls and can bring so much to peoples lives even if it is just a little visit!!
