It was bath day. And the first time I gave her a bath she tried to dart away but only a little-- otherwise she was wonderful. This was probably her fourth or fifth bath since I got her and this time was a very different story.
We bathe our dogs outside during the warm months. I'm really not looking forward to having to bathe them inside, but anyway... so I gently sprayed Sophie and she began darting everywhich way, crazy like. Then when I tried again she jumped into my arms and made these crying noises. Not like whimpering but like she was blubbering, little grunty gurgly noises. It broke my heart. So I held her and debated stopping, it was so pathetic...
But she was covered with fleas and I was giving her a flea bath before I applied the Frontline this evening. Plus, she's normally white-- when she's clean she's sparkling nearly metallic white like snow-- and she was starting to be offwhite, and therefore the dirtiest she's been since I got her. So I had to bathe her, poor lamb.
On flip side, today was bath day, heart worm day, flea med day... she's a much healthier doggie now! |
