In Northwest Indiana we call it pop. My son started college in Texas and now calls it soda and corrects me when he comes home. Do you call it something else where you live?

We call it soda, our neighbors call it coke...

Soda in "The Foundry" states (south and west of New England). If you've ever read The Nine Nations of North America, you get whole lists of things that are different - words, phrases, and attitudes.

I grew up in MN and now live in ND. I've only heard it called "pop" in this part of the country. My husband grew up in TN and his family refers to it as "coke". I found this confusing when his mom told us that there were cokes in the fridge and all I found were pepsi products!
