My mom just sent this to me...I thought it was interesting:
http://strangemaps.wordpress.com/2008/08/18/308-the-pop-vs-soda-map/
How accurate is it? It's right for where I am...we call it soda around here. |

Ok, Mary...I am originally from Texas, but since I have lived in Florida, for 24 years, with those displaced Northerners, I have learned to call it Soda...I have been teased by people, when I say, "I am Fixin to do something", they say," So what are you fixing?" "What is broken"? Smart@**....Arrrggh!

Pop! When I worked at a grocery store we called the bags 'sacks' just to get funny looks from the customers 'would you like plastic or paper sacks?' |

That's funny. When I was in high school I dated a cute little "cowboy" and he would call me on the phone and ask if I wanted to go out and drink a soda pop! I graduated in 1971. The word "coke" has always encompassed all carbonated beverages. Even today most people around here will ask if you want a coke and that means: Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Mr. Pibb, etc. |

This is so funny.....air one spent several days talking about it on their national show. I loved listening to people call in with their stories about it. I'm a big fan of soda myself, have one on ice as I walk out the door every morning ~ diet pepsi of course And, no, I don't bob my head and drink the max. |
