Mickster came out of surgery fine on Thursday.  I went to the vets after work to pick him up.  He was poor Mickey Alien Conehead and he was PETRIFIED of the cone.  I've never seen anything like it... when he saw it out of the corner of his eye, he screamed and jumped back as if there was something there that frightened him.  He had a drain in his chin/jaw, that looked like something impaled him, and he needed to keep it on to protect that drain.  So, for the next 2 days I endured CONSTANT crying.  I mean CONSTANT.  Even while sleeping, he whined... and when he woke up for whatever reason, he screamed cuz the cone scared him.   He wouldn't go outside potty without me right next to him.  When one of the other dogs came too close, he screamed.  THANK GOD Dr. Bart took the drain out yesterday and now Mickey's normal and acting like nothing happened!!  He's got this huge hole where the drain was, and the whole site just skeeves me out... I'm not good with bloody flesh and that stuff.. it gives me the chills everytime Mickey shows me his neck!!

I took some pix, they're not very good, but I'll post them later this week.  I forgot to take my camera with me to work today, dang it!!  But Mickey's doing 100% better and hopefully this abscess won't return!!

Thanks for everybody's good thoughts for my Mocha Mickey Budda Belly Muckalucka!!

I'm glad Mickey is doing well Sue. After Ratty's episode with the plastic cone from his first surgery we got him the Comfy Cone this time and he did a lot better with that. I can't blame Mickey for being scared of it. At least he didn't have to wear it for 2 weeks like Ratty did.

poor guy! I'm glad he's doing better now. I've had dogs who used the cones as bulldozers and ones who were very timid with the cones...it's never easy, but when they need it, they need it. I know how nasty those drains are...a few of my dogs have had to have them...one time, my dobie attempted to pull his out, and nearly did. I hope you don't have to deal with another one those for a long time. did he have any pain meds? that could have been part of his crying if he didn't have any...

I'm sorry he was so traumatized by the cone, but glad to hear it's off now. Hopefully everything heals super fast and he doesn't have any more problems. Get well soon, Mickey!!!!
