| What does that warning mean? Is it a breakaway? I use breakaways for my two and there is a certain way to use them a a regular collar - and some cannot be used as a collar. |

| Good girl Yaz listening to your people. But you have to stop pulling your collar off sweetie, you're scaring everyone to pieces. I am very glad she listened and didn't run off. Cameo would take off like a shot if she could, so would Zip. I admit I am so glad Phil bought a house with a large fenced in backyard, it's worth it for the peace of mind. |

Hello All! Luke gets out of his collar too. I guess I just don't have it tight enough. Luke has free run of the house and yard during the day. He learned how to work the doggie doors in just a couple of hours. When I walk him, I noticed the collar was too loose... So, I started using a slip collar until he learns how to walk with me, then I will switch him to a harness. He will always wear the collar too, just in case he runs off after something. He's a lil bugger... he can get in and out of places you would not think is large enough for him to do so. The only time I know he's safe is when I can see him or he's in his crate!! Luke did great yesterday, he is now neutered... I picked him up about 4:30 pm. The vet assistant said that we have a "screamer"!! (not a cryer, not a whimperer, not a squeaker, but a screamer). Luke did not want to co-operate with anyone there. He just screamed and screamed.... He was happy to see me, so happy he did his submissive PP... He did that when I 1st brought him home, but I've worked with him on that and he doesn't do that anymore in the house... I make sure we are outside when I greet him and I don't do it in an excited manner. He hasn't done that submissive pp in about 2 weeks until yesterday when he saw me. He's a lil tender but is doing well, he was hungry and thristy and wanted more... but I was afraid he'd get sick. He ate a great breakfast this morning. We got him chipped yesterday too. My English Cocker used to pull me when I would walk him when we would go camping, and try to get off of his collar... I didn't know what to do then, so I used both a collar and harness and two leashes... I finally got a "gentle lead" and watched a couple of Cesar Millan videos and now Nick walks right by my side with just his regular collar. Good Boy... |

Doesn't your heart just drop when you don't see them where they are supposed to be... or if they "get out" by accident? Mine does... big time! All of mine have gotten out at one time or another for one reason or another. Thank goodness they all returned home safely. The last time was the English Cocker (Nick), the meter reader let him get out and didn't even ring the door bell to tell us. Nick always comes back, sooner now that he's older, but he will not listen when called. It's like he's almost laughing at us... He will come in when he's ready... he'll just sit outside the garage or on the lawn. He doesn't go far... He will listen when he in the house or yard, but not outside... He used to, then stopped. Anyway, I'm glad your rattie listened and everything is ok. |

This is the collar Yaz was wearing. It's made by Lil' Paws. The first time it happened I panicked! Big No No! I made myself be calm and that's when she stopped running and dropped to her belly. Second time I was inside and Larry didn't even notice she had broken loose again. Men. I wonder what she would have done if she HAD gotten to the Pomeranian though. I must say I was VERY surprised at her obedience. Such a good girl! |

| A harness is much harder to escape from -- they make lightwieght ones that do not bother the dog-- easy walker is one of the better ones. |

We had a small incident with Cameo a few weeks back. We had the front doors wide open to load stuff into the truck for a run to the storage unit. Janie's newphew was in the house and she told him to keep Cameo behind the gate in the kitchen. So here we are lifting a heavy box and look down and there's Cameo right there. She was very obedient and didn't run off, sweet girl baby. She just wanted to be with us and not run off. Our street isn't very busy, but still, all it takes is one time.
Collars seem to be easy to escape unless they are tight, too tight for my liking. Rattagan walks just fine with with a choker chain and doesn't really pull. Zipper is also fine with a choker although he will pull sometimes. Cameo is just too enthusiastic and a choker isn't right for her, but the harness Janie got her is working our very well. I don't know, perhaps I don't have the right skills and mindset to break (I don't like that word) the pulling. I just can't see myself holding her up by her neck on a chain until she gets used to it...not my style I guess. When I walk Cameo she will pull a bit, but is settling into to walking, well, trotting, with me. |

| Yes, I had to make that decision to about the harness. Even though the train books say to use a high collar, It was just to hard to try to make it work and dogs can get crushed tracias from to much pulling. Terriers especially. That is why I use the easy walker harness casue it makes walking better than any harness I have ever used. they are not cheap, but worth it IMO |

You are correct. I went and loked at their harnesses. It says Gentle Leader--Easy Walker. I love them. They were about $20 a piece but I think are well worth it.

We use a harness when we walk her but have always used a collar in the yard for her tie out. She didn't slip out of her collar. The buckle on this collar apparently is designed to come undone when pulled. Something we didn't know. I am so glad we have worked with her so diligently in her training. It definitely worked. I have always seen on harnesses that it says NOT to use when tied out. Don't know why. So that's why we only use it for walks. |

| Wow--Designed to come undone when pulled!! That seems odd for a collar since dogs are often pulling at some point---maybe the bulky harnesses are bad for leaving em tied---some are light wieght and strong at the same time. Most people I know say to harness terriers cause they can get a collapesed tracia since they can pull so much-good thing yaz is so well trained.. |

| That's so scary. Sophie has been a good girl and (knock on wood) she's only gotten loose once, a few days after we got her. But it was so scary, and of course I've had dogs do that lots in the past (Radar is a sweetheart because if he's loose he just comes to the front door and sits down to be let back in!) |
