Honest opinions please....

Took these of my friend and her agility dogs...(she also has a new sheltie puppy, but I couldn't get her to be still, so she's not included in the pictures).  Of course, when you have dogs as well trained as hers are... getting them to pose is EASY !

Wow, that first one is FABULOUS!
this is nitpicky, but the second one seems off somehow- maybe because that effect reaches into her hairline? Maybe it's my monitor- but it looks like lines or brush strokes around the edge?

Hmmm... I agree Sarah.  Here's the original untouched photo, unframed.

It's better to have that space above her head- doesn't look like she's trying to squeeze into the frame.
Unframed it looks more balanced.
These are really excellent! Did you take any of the puppy solo?

I agree... thanks for the honest critique, Sarah. I took several, but they are all out of focus because he was all over the place! LOL He's a blue merle sheltie and she named him Email (don't ask me why!!) weird, eh?

These are great! She has gorgeous dogs! I just love the border collie.

Did she have a backdrop?

I guess that gives new meaning to the phrase "did you see my Email?"
An old friend of mine was a photography major at RIT- I think that's where I learned to be so 'critical'. All that talk about Ansel Adams and zone technique must have rubbed off.

just a blanket...and I "smudged" it some thru photo explosion software... and added some color.
This is who I went to the Decatur, AL dog trial with a few weeks ago. She took three of her dogs and I took Bailey... we roomed together for three days with four dogs. It was quite an experience, but the dogs are SO well behaved you barely knew they were there. Now Bailey? EVERYONE knew he was there! hahaha

You were not being critical, Sarah. I'm FAR from being a professional, although when I can ever catch my breath and find the time, I want to take some photography classes. I appreciate you being candid with me. I framed these two pictures in 5x7 matching frames and gave them to her.

I knew you were in Alabama for dog trials, but I never did know where.  My husband is from Hartselle, about 20 min. from Decatur!  Wish I'd asked--I'd have tried to make the trip up to meet you and Bailey

GREAT picturees, too!

Oh gosh!  What a small world it is--and the older I get, the smaller it gets!  Please do let me know when you'll be back this way.  It will be interesting to discover if I or John know some of your relatives.
