Okay so I took minnie to get a wellness checkup at the aspca. did not go to well. she has never been to a place with huge dogs like that. so there was a huge pitbull and a german shepard. I took her in on a leash, thinking she would be okay, Nope i was wrong she saw the german and it literally scared the pee right out of her. I checked in and the pit bull started lunging at her so i picked her up and let the volunteer know she had made a little mess . when i picked her up the german tried to come up with her and minnie pee,ed all over me.... I was so embarrassed, but i went outside and got her towel from the truck. and went back in and sat with her wrapped up like a burrito for about 45 minutes.mean while we could hear puppies screaming in the back, not i want out screams, the someone is killing me im in pain screaming. minnie looked up at me every time we heard a scream. it was a little un nerving.every person that came in there asked what kind of dog is that?, I laughed after the 10th time and told the lady next to me i should just wear a sign then we went into a room and they took her temp. 104. the vet tech was concerned but i told her she was in a towel. she just looked at me like i was crazy and walked out.then about 15 minutes later the vet came in and was covered in spots of blood . I was a little horrified but sucked it up. minnie just sat on the table, looking like i was putting her throw hell. the vet looked at her hernia and said basically he could put stitches in the two muscles and bring them together, but it was going to make her limp for the rest of her life and she would have to be very very careful not to rip them out, which would cause even more damage. he said the hernia was very hard to see but the little space where it would come out isn't very big and has gotten smaller since she has gotten bigger.then he said if it doesn't bother her (which it doesn't at all), and its not a problem, then we could just leave it the way it is. it only appears when she does massive runny and jumping which she will no long be able to do either way. so he said either option is good but putting stitchs is more risky. and if it ever does become a problem later we still have that option. So we waited about 30 mins and the vet tech came back and took her temp again. it had went down, so she gave her all her shots. and we left as fast as we could. minnie got right in her seat and didn't care that i put her seat belt on. wehn we got about a mile or two away she came over and licked my hand and put her head on my arm. I wanted to cry, my poor baby. so I went home and called my regular vet and told her everything, she said everything sounded right. so i told her to make me an appointment for minnie to be spayed. no hernia. and im staying with her until your ready to spay her and ill wait in the waiting room til shes ready to go home. if you have a problem with that then ill drive her to san diego to my mom's vet and he can do it. she was quite for a min and said , Im okay with that but it will be almost a half a day of waiting. i told her and im okay with that to. . so it may cost me more but minnie is getting fixed by her vet and all is well.
I want to say thank you to all of you that were so nice to me, I love my dogs so much and i'm so close to them its scary, but i couldn't imagine what was going through poor me me's (minnie) head that day.... My poor girl, we went to the pet store afterwards and got a huge bully stick! and got sadie one to. |
